Dear Ordway Families,

The message this week is from all of the staff here at Ordway: WE COULDN'T DO IT WITHOUT YOU! A huge, heartfelt THANK YOU from us to you for your dedication to stay connected to the school and support student continuous learning. As parent partners, you have gone above and beyond this spring.  Additionally, a big thank you to Ordway PTO for helping arrange fun activities and promote engagement through Spirit Week, volunteering remotely and arranging our 4th grade send off- you’re the best!

6/15-6/18 - Student Material Pick-up:

These days are set aside for student material pick-up. Directions and a schedule for each class time is listed below.

Stay in your car: Similar to device pick-up, families will stay in their cars and we will bring materials (they have been placed in bags) to your car. 

Use the bus lane:  We will only be using the bus lane for ‘grab and go’ (similar to meal service)

Please be patient: We ask that families wait in the car line until it is your turn to pull up to our materials station. Traffic could get backed up, so please be patient.

Bring your student: Classroom teachers and extra support staff will be there to greet you and bring materials to your car. Staff is looking forward to seeing the students!
School library books can be dropped off at the same time families pick up school items. Please plan to keep devices (Ipads and Chromebooks) through the summer and look for a message in August regarding a device cleaning or exchange opportunity at the beginning of the year.

To mark the end of this unprecedented 4th grade year, Ordway PTO has planned a 4th Grade Drive Through Parade on the last day of school, Friday June 19th from 11-12. Please come to Ordway, drive through the bus drop-off zone (same as we do for the grab and go lunches) so that you can exchange goodbyes with your teachers. 
LIBRARY AND NOVEL STUDY BOOK RETURNS - Starts Friday, June 12th From 1-2 PM

Mrs. Nelson will have a book check-In station in the Ordway car lane where you can drop off library books, novel study books, or any book that belongs to Ordway.  The books may be checked in as you hand them over to the book scanner attendant. Please have them wrapped in a bag, clear plastic if possible.   Also, please wear a mask when passing the books through your car window to the attendant. 

FYI- Student's books that may have been left in the classroom have been collected by teachers and returned to the library already. 

After the Friday book return, Mrs. Nelson will compose an online report of student books still missing and email the list to families through SKYWARD.  PLEASE check your Skyward home page to see if your child has any additional missing books.  If you find any more books at home, or miss the Friday Drop-off, please return books during your child's material pick-up day the following week. 

Finally,  if you find additional books over the summer, please drop them off at the district office or return them in August. 
Please join us for the last PTO meeting of the 2019-2020 school year this Friday June 12! We will meet via zoom at 9am.

Due to COVID-19, children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school will get extra food benefits. These food benefits are called Pandemic EBT (P-EBT): Emergency School Lunch Program, or P-EBT benefits. P-EBT benefits help families in Washington buy food when school is closed. For students who qualify for free meals, the estimated benefits  may be up to $399 per student.  To learn more, read the FAQs for P-EBT. 

Families in our district who qualified this year for free or reduced-price meals will be contacted by BISD Food Services to help you begin the process. If your income has changed and you believe you may now qualify for the program, please contact Food Services to complete an application by June 26th.

Annual Back to School Check-in

Parents, please complete the Annual Back-to-School Check-In (ABC) process for your student(s). This allows us to collect information about students returning to the district for the next school year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of returning students helps us determine staffing, class size and building capacity to better serve the needs of our students. 

All current BISD parents: Access the ABC process on your computer through Skyward, or on your mobile device by choosing "Desktop" access in the Skyward mobile app. 

Parents of new students to the district for the 2020-21 School Year (kindergarteners, transfer students): Access the ABC process after July 25, 2020. (That's when new students are added to our system.)
The ABC process also allows the district to fulfill annual notification requirements for public schools in Washington State in an efficient manner.
IMPORTANT: The ABC process must be completed and submitted to the district in order to access your student's class placement for next year. Class placements and schedules will be available in late August. 
If your student is not returning next year, please inform the Ordway office manager Sarah Dunstan at sdunstan@bisd303.org.
