Community Garden
This is our second year to plant and tend an accessible garden bed in the South Regina Community Garden. The garden is providing great opportunities to learn about growing plants, growing fun, and growing community. The raised beds make it easier to weed, water, and harvest. There is always lots of laughter when we gather at the garden.

Summer Literacy
Summer Literacy 10 began on July 6, 2022 and runs from 1:00 – 4:00 on consecutive Wednesday’s and Thursday’s until August 18, 2022. Summer Literacy is a safe, comfortable, and most importantly, fun place for Core Members to enhance their literacy skills with friends. This summer the literay students are reading an autobiography, Disfigured: On Fairy Tales, Disability, and Making Space, by Amanda Leduc. They are also exploring areas of financial, health, technology, and creative writing literacy.

Kamila Sanborn - Summer Literacy Staff
Hi my name is Kamila Sanborn. I am originally from Redvers, SK but moved to Regina in 2018 to pursue my Bachelor of Social Work degree. I completed my degree in April of this year and had the pleasure of doing my major practicum with Astonished! I learned a lot in my placement and met a lot of great people who I am happy to spend more time with now that I am working for Astonished in summer literacy. In my free time I love to paint, walk my dog, go hiking and spend time with my friends and family.

Haley McGrath - Summer Literacy Staff
Hello! My name is Haley McGrath and I am going into my fifth year of my Bachelor of Kinesiology, majoring in Human Kinetics and Gerontology. I am originally from Slave Lake, Alberta and am so excited to be spending my first summer in Regina as part of the Astonished! Team. Within my degree, I have learned that helping individuals achieve their goals and dreams is one of my true passions and am so grateful that Astonished! has given me the opportunity to further explore that passion while learning other valuable skills. In my free time, I love going for walks around Wascana Lake, and spending time with my friends and my dog, Fergie.

AGMIn a theatre production there is as much going on behind the scenes as there is at centre stage. This is also true of a not-for-profit organization. At our Annual General Meeting, on June 21, 2022, we acknowledged the work behind the scenes as well as centre stage. Thank you to our amazing Board of Connectors who deal with our organizational policies and protocol; to our staff who are adapting and responding to the changing realities of daily life in a pandemic, to our University of Regina Practicum Students and volunteers; to our very generous donors and supporters; and most of all, to all the Astonished! Core Members. Please take a look at who we, with your support, were able to be in the 2021-2022 year.

Truth and Reconciliation
This year Astonished! has been presenting a 6-part Truth and Reconciliation Workshop The purpose of this series is to provide a learning opportunity to better understand the history of colonialism in Canada, the impact and harm it brought to Indigenous Peoples of this land which is now Canada, also known as Turtle Island, and to the Treaty Relationship between settlers and First People. These workshops also delve into the current need to participate in the work of truth and reconciliation and to bring healing.
The next workshop will take place on September 15 – 12:30pm- 4pm at First Nations University of Canada Multi-Purpose Room. We will begin with a catered lunch from a local Indigenous business, focus on a particular aspect of Truth and Reconciliation, and end with an afternoon refreshment break from 3pm-4pm. If you would like to join us please RSVP to Melissa Turbuck
