Endolumik Is Ready to Market Surgical Device After Receiving FDA Approval
In 2021, the Food and Drug Administration made it easier to get new medical devices on the market if they improved the safety of already available treatments. Endolumik Inc., was the first company in the U.S. approved for the initiative, which is called the Safer Technologies Program. Tepper School of Business alumna Mara McFadden is the co-founder and CEO.

'Entrepreneur First' Meets CMU Startups During Visit
to Pittsburgh

For the first time, Entrepreneur First visited Pittsburgh on March 20-21, 2023 to meet Carnegie Mellon University student founders. Entrepreneur First invests in exceptional individuals to build startups from scratch. Derek Jouppi, a former nanotech founder from Entrepreneur First, met with PhDs, Masters and undergraduates who will be defending or graduating this year to learn about their research, projects, and startup goals.

Derek also hosted the students for dinner at Butterjoint and attended the Swartz Center's McGinnis Venture Competition on March 21.
The Swartz Center Hosts XchangePgh on March 24-26

XchangePgh hosted its XchangeIdeas event at the CMU Swartz Center on March 24-26, 2023. The event welcomed over 500 participants, which included Carnegie Mellon students, alumni and members of the Pittsburgh community to share ideas and bring them to life while being guided by expert facilitators through a series of exercises from a strategic design toolkit. Organized by Tepper School of Business adjunct professor Adam Paulisick and Kit Mueller, head of network at RustBuilt, the event also included mindfulness sessions, various speaker sessions and the celebration of work on Sunday for over one hundred entrepreneurs who moved an idea forward. An event highlight was a lip sync battle among the participants held on Saturday.

The VentureBridge Summer Accelerator is a 12-week program that helps CMU startups by investing capital ($25K SAFE Note), providing office space in Silicon Valley, New York and Pittsburgh, as well as making introductions to mentors, experts and investors.

Eligible teams must have at least one CMU affiliated alumni founder. All applications must include a pitch deck and a two-minute pitch video. Applications are due by
Friday, March 31, 2023 at midnight.
