Wintersession, Family + Friends Weekend, and Flu Shots
Wintersession, Family + Friends Weekend, and Flu Shots
Friday, Oct. 16, 2020
We have just 30 days left to complete fall classes together. Beyond our campus, however, COVID-19 cases are rising in RI and nationally. The CDC says small gatherings are causing the surge.
The final weeks of the semester are a time to stay focused on achieving academic excellence and the essential practices that are helping us so far: masking, social distance, hand washing, and avoiding unprotected gatherings.
Bryant faculty, students and staff have dedicated themselves to ensuring that our community stays healthy and learning from each other during this historic semester. We are in the home stretch now. Let’s Be Bryant Strong and finish Bryant strong!
Make the most of Wintersession
Registration for Wintersession is open and students are encouraged to take advantage of both sessions, Dec. 3-22 and Jan. 4-22. The modified schedule provides a chance to accelerate degree completion and expand learning interests. Winter classes are fully remote and at reduced tuition.
“Winternships” provide a unique opportunity for students to complete a 120-hour academic internship. Students must plan early and will need to file their enrollment forms by Nov. 7. Questions? Contact Denise Gormley or Heather Grim
Weekend Activities
Bryant’s compressed academic calendar includes classes on some holidays and Saturdays, and is positioning us to complete the semester with mitigated risk. Special activities are planned to help students take a break from study and recharge. This weekend’s events include a Saturday evening carnival with games, music, food, and prizes on the Fisher Center lawn from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Next weekend, Academic Affairs will host a Halloween Pumpkin Party from
3 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday. Look for more details to be announced on Monday.
Flu Clinics for Students and Employees
Getting a flu vaccine reduces your risk from flu and flu-related complications, and also helps conserve potentially scarce health care resources. Bryant Health Services strongly encourages all of our community members to get vaccinated for this year. There are multiple flu vaccination clinics conveniently located on campus. Students who have already gotten the flu vaccine are asked to let us know by updating the vaccination record in the Medicat portal.
Student flu vaccination clinics will be held in the MAC on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 28, Noon - 4 p.m. Click here to register
The date and time for the final faculty and staff flu clinic in the Rotunda mezzanine is: Wednesday, Nov. 4 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Click here to register.
Ask a Librarian
The staff at Bryant’s Koffler Library are a crucial resource for students, especially during the busy last weeks of the semester. In September alone, the research desk answered nearly 900 questions, including 581 through instant messaging, and librarians taught 70 information literacy classes- exactly half in person and half through online instruction.
Need help? You can reach the library staff by text, email, IM, calling, or contact through social media. Ask a Librarian here.
Amica Center opportunities
On Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m., the Amica Center for Career Education will be hosting a virtual Walk Down Wall Street. Join alumni panelists from Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Radius Financial Group, BNY Mellon, Barclays Investment Bank, Stone Point Capital, Charles River Development, Rocaton, AllianceBerstein and Bank of America to learn about their career paths and opportunities.
