This Sunday, August 7, immediately after the 9:30 service, there will be an opportunity to visit with Josh and Anna Hayden and family before the Rector Search Update. The Haydens are a St. B's family who have been living and ministering in a university setting in Prague, Czech Republic, since 2019, and have expanded their ministry this year to serve Ukrainian refugees.

 

WORSHIP

Ninth Sunday After Pentecost
Holy Eucharist, 9:30 a.m. 

 

This Sunday, join us for Holy Eucharist at 9:30 a.m. with guest preacher the Rev. Richard Wineland, who serves as Coordinator at Christ Church Cathedral downtown for their BreakingBread@6 service. He also oversees the recovery ministry at St. Augustine's Episcopal Chapel at Vanderbilt University and is Chaplain to The Episcopal School of Nashville.

Intercessory prayer will be available in person for anyone who would like to be prayed for or pray with others. The service will be live-streamed and available on-demand later in the morning. Masks are optional and KN95 masks are available for anyone who would like to wear one. For Families: The nursery will open at 9:15 a.m. for ages 0–3 years, and the service will include a children's homily for 3 yrs–6th grade.

 


THIS SUNDAY

RECTOR SEARCH UPDATE & INFORMATION SESSION ⁠— AUG. 7

 

This Sunday, August 7, the Rector Search Committee will host an information session to update the parish and explain the next steps in the search process. The meeting will be from 11 a.m.–12 p.m. in Wallace Hall. It will be available via zoom and recorded for watching later as well. To help us maximize the Q&A section, please submit your questions ahead of time on this form. You can also ask questions during the meeting itself.


Youth can attend the meeting or email amoroni@stbs.net to help out with kids in the gym.

 


BACK TO SCHOOL

REGISTER FOR CHILDREN'S AND YOUTH FORMATION

 

Formation for children, youth and adults returns on Sunday, Sept. 11. Help us get ready and keep everyone safe by registering online using the links below or in person in the narthex on Sunday.

  • Register children from preK–6th grade
  • Register youth from 7th–12th grade

 

On Sunday, Aug. 21 there will be a Nursery, Catechesis, and 456 Open House immediately following the 9:30 service. All adults and children are welcome to tour the rooms, greet leaders, and receive more information about each class. There will also be Youth Parent Meeting that afternoon from 4–5 p.m. in the rectory backyard for parents and guardians of 7th–12th graders to get to know each other better and hear about what’s going on in Youth. More events for children and youth are scheduled for August and September, reach out to Alysha or Meredith to learn more.

 

 

BACK TO SCHOOL BLESSING


It's our tradition to pray for all students and educators as they begin a new school year, which will happen during the 9:30 service on Sunday, Aug. 14. Students and educators of all ages are encouraged to come forward at the announcements for their blessing! 

 

 


AROUND ST. B'S

SECOND TUESDAYS FOR MEN

 

Every second Tuesday, the men of St. B's gather at M.L. Rose on 8th Ave at 5:30 p.m. to connect and eat! Our next gathering is next week, August 9. Come as often as you can. Email David with questions or to get on his reminder list. 

 

WOMEN'S GATHERING

 

Join other St. B's women on Tuesday, August 16 from 5:15–7:15 p.m. in Wallace Hall to sip, snack, and chat while doing a simple hands-on project together to benefit local children. Food & beverages as well as project materials will be provided. No RSVP needed and you are welcome to drop in or stay the whole time! Questions? JUSTICE PILGRIMAGE TO MONTGOMERY


Register now for St. B’s overnight pilgrimage to Montgomery, AL October 14–15, designed to deepen our understanding of Civil Rights history and our role in racial reconciliation. This overnight charter bus trip will include visits to The Legacy Museum and The National Memorial for Peace and Justice, followed by a time of reflection with a staff member from the Equal Justice Initiative. Detailed information with links to registration and payment can be found here. If you plan to drive yourself, the cost is reduced to $50 per person. Registration deadline is August 15.

ST. LUKE'S FOOD PANTRY


August Items:
Snacks for children, canned tuna, toothbrushes and toothpaste. St. Luke's is also always in need of diapers and wipes. Please leave collections for St. Luke's food pantry in the cabinet beside the doors to the gym.

Elaine Palmer had knee replacement surgery this week and we have a few spots open to provide a meal for her and Bob while she recovers. If you'd like to be on the email list to receive notification anytime we have a meal need, please email Mindy Mumme.
