A Night of Celebration with Ed Wulfe
The 20th Annual Trailblazer Gala took place February 8th at The Junior League of Houston. It was a night of celebration for a Houston icon, Ed Wulfe, who continues to give so much to the community. For more than 50 years, Ed Wulfe, CEO & Founder of Wulfe & Co., has dedicated his efforts into rebuilding our beloved city, but never failed to volunteer his own time in the community. On this night, we all took a moment of our time to show him gratitude.
Trailblazer Chair Lee Wheat remarked, "The Trailblazer Award recognizes an individual who has made a significant impact on the Houston community both professionally and personally. Ed Wulfe's historic passion for our city and everything Houston is inspiring. His life's story exemplifies an energetic "can-do" spirit that helps distinguish and shape the environment in which we live, work and play."
Melanie Lawson, ABC 13 News anchor and award winning journalist, served as Master of Ceremonies. She had the pleasure of hosting a one-on-one live interview with Wulfe that captured the audience with laughter and inspiring stories.
The evening's theme was "Visionary at Work," a term fashioned for Ed Wulfe. After five decades of building, creating and making things happen, he stands among a unique group of development titans who have shaped Houston with his vision and energy.
The classic D-handle American shovel was chosen to represent Ed Wulfe and his work and to complement his passion for gardening, urban landscaping, and environmental conservation. It was the featured object crafted into one-of-a-kind signature pieces by 19 area artists, artisans, and art directors. The companion silent auction was equally successful.
The evening was also about Houston and continuing AAF-Houston's mission to enhance our city's image and strengthen our community. For 107 years, AAF-Houston's boards of directors have worked to develop opportunities to give back to our profession and underwrite its future through scholarships, internships, and educational programs provided by the AAF-Houston and its scholarship arm, the Advertising Education Foundation of Houston (AEFH).
This year's annual AEFH / AAF-H Scholarship Awards Luncheon will be held Friday, April 13, 2018 at The Junior League of Houston. Scholarship awards in the amount of $3,000 each will be handed out to 20 deserving students for the semester beginning in Fall 2018.
Thank you to our sponsors, donors, contributors, guests, and volunteers for making the 20th AAF-Houston Trailblazer evening an elegant and memorable tribute. Special thanks goes to Sheryl Rapp, The UP Experience (and daughter of Ed Wulfe), and the Southwest Advertising Hall of Fame's Jackie Dryden, for their invaluable support and creativity in producing this year's gala.
It was an honor to have each of you and your guests join our AAF-Houston members to celebrate Ed Wulfe as the 20th AAF-Houston Trailblazer!
