UPDATE: Holy Week - Limited Reopening beginning on Palm Sunday

Limited Re-Opening

Beginning Palm Sunday!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am pleased to announce that Council met on this past Monday night and decided that, beginning on Palm Sunday, we will resume in-person worship services with several safety precautions in place. As excited as you may be, I implore you to make an intellectual decision as to whether to return, and not an emotional one.

Covid statistics, while trending in a good direction, are still quite high. Sumner County does not currently meet the recommended metrics set by the Synod to return to in-person worship. However, due to a portion of our congregants having received the vaccine, we feel you can determine your own comfort level.

Streaming and parking lot options will still be available!

Here is the schedule for in-person worship during Holy Week:

Palm Sunday (3/28) 8:00 am
In Sanctuary Quiet Communion (no music, and this service will NOT be livestreamed)

Palm Sunday (3/28) 10:30 am
In Sanctuary with singing, Parking Lot FM Broadcast w/ Communion, Streaming
— Overflow seating in Founders Hall (see Overflow explanation below)

Maundy Thursday (4/01) 7:00 pm

Good Friday (4/02) 7:00 pm
In Sanctuary with singing, Parking Lot FM Broadcast (no Communion on Good Friday), Streaming

Easter Sunday (4/04) 9:00 am
In Sanctuary with singing, Parking Lot FM Broadcast w/ Communion, Streaming
— Overflow seating in Founders Hall (see Overflow explanation below)

Easter Sunday (4/04) 11:00 am
In Sanctuary with singing, Parking Lot FM Broadcast w/ Communion, Streaming
— Overflow seating in Founders Hall (see Overflow explanation below)

Overflow:
For the 10:30 am Palm Sunday service, and for both Easter Sunday services, once the 48 slots for each of those services are filled, we will open up a limited number of seats (safely spaced) in Founders Hall for overflow. If you wish to attend one of those services and the Sign-Up Genius slots are filled, you may come to the service at the designated time and be seated in Founders Hall, where the livestreamed service will be projected onto the wall at the front of Founders Hall. You do NOT need to sign up in order to attend the service in Founders Hall. However, capacity restrictions will still apply.

In-Sanctuary & Overflow Worship will look like this:
  • Max capacity of 60 people (including worship assistants and choir). Twelve (12) spaces are reserved for worship assistants and choir, leaving 48 spaces available for congregants for each service.  (The same capacity restrictions will apply to Founders Hall.)
  • Reserve a spot in the sanctuary on Sign-up Genius to help us stay under capacity.  Click HERE to sign up for all Holy Week services.
NOTE:  Look for a follow-up email to sign up to assist Ron Morgenstern, either by working at one of the Entry Points and/or by helping to clean the sanctuary and narthex (and for services with Overflow, Founders Hall) following each service
  • Communion will be served with the optional tiny intinction chalice
  • Temperature checks upon entry and masks required at all times
  • Distancing between households of 6 feet
  • Special air filters are in place in our HVAC system
  • Surfaces will be sanitized after each service

Beyond Holy Week:

Beginning on the Sunday after Easter, we will resume limited in-person worship on Sunday mornings at 10:30 am, with the same capacity restrictions and safety precautions in place.  On the Monday after Easter, we will send out a new Sign-Up Genius link for Sunday services in April.

Saturday night and Sunday early service worshipers, we have not forgotten you. Council feels it is important to start slow, but we have every intention of bringing these services back. We will assess attendance and Covid statistics at the next council meeting, then determine what May will look like.

Faith Formation will continue in its virtual format through the end of the school year.

Internal Meetings and Groups will continue to meet virtually for the time being.

External Groups will continue to be on hold for the time being.

I have been so inspired by this congregation's adaptability and resourcefulness over the last year. The goal of this plan is to show God's love by keeping safety our top priority, while at the same time respecting different comfort levels by providing a variety of worship experiences. We will keep a close eye on the situation and make adjustments if needed. Thank you so much for your patience and support.
