In the Event of Inclement Weather

SAS makes every effort to be in session on regularly scheduled school days. In the event that inclement weather requires a delay or closing, a decision will usually be made by 6 a.m. and will be texted and emailed to students, faculty, staff, and day parents, and posted to the school's website, and Facebook and Instagram pages. Bus service will run according to the delay.

No day student will be penalized for an absence from school on a day when parents/guardians feel it is unsafe to travel to school. Should parents/guardians make the decision to keep their child at home because of the weather, they should email the school or call by 8:30 a.m. to report the absence.

COVID Updates

Morning Check-In Procedure

Morning health screening for day students is now in their first location of the academic day. Boarding students have their check-in at breakfast. Any students who do not attend announcements with their advisors, who do not have a first period class, or who are late must check in with Ms. Barnett to have their temperature taken upon arrival. It is imperative that students arrive ON TIME (and by on time we mean a little early) so we can get this done without losing instruction time. Parents, please help us to make this happen.

COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 testing for students is now taking place at lunchtime, Monday: Grades 6-8, Tuesday: Grades 11-12, and Wednesdays: Grades 9-10. Students are able to receive their lunch at the gym after they test which is also cutting down on the length of time it takes to get through the lunch line. Every member of the SAS community is tested once a week.

Did you miss the town hall meeting?

View a recording of the town hall meeting or check out our COVID page for more information.
As of 1/26/2021 the seven-day average active case rate for our four-county region is .77%.

Is Your Child Going to be Absent or Tardy?

Be sure to let us know if your child will be absent, late, or needs to miss a class by emailing This link is also available on the Parent Essentials page.

Watching SAS Teams Online

While attendance at some home games may be limited this year, the school's affiliation with the NFHS network will allow you to view some contests from home. You can watch SAS games held in the gym and on the varsity game field (soccer) online by subscribing ($70/year or $11/month) to the NFHS Network.
Here's how to watch:

1) Visit
2) Search for St. Andrew’s-Sewanee and go to our page
3) Subscribe and Follow

Students in good standing will be issued re-enrollment contracts through the Blackbaud (CORE) Parent Portal during the first two weeks of February. Contracts issued in February will have a return deadline of March 3. Students who started at SAS in January 2021 will be issued enrollment contracts during the week of March 15.

Applying for Financial Aid

Families hoping to receive financial aid in 2021-2022 must submit their Parents Financial Statement (PFS online) and supporting documents by February 5. Enrollment contracts will only be issued once the new PFS and supporting documents are submitted. Tuition rates for 2021-2022 are now posted.

Missing Something?

The lost and found is located across from Ms. Barnett's desk at the Bishop Bratton entrance and is currently overflowing with items. Please encourage your child to stop by to look for anything that might be theirs. In another week or so, we will donate these items to a local charity.

Keeping You and Your Children Safe Online

Our Educational Technology Coordinator Dr. Viva Reynolds recently shared the following articles with our faculty and staff. We thought you might find them helpful for protecting you and your children online.

Celebrating Our Swimming and Wrestling Seniors

Because our disrupted season has not allowed us to celebrate our winter senior athletes as we normally would, we wanted to recognize them in SASAFACTS. Senior basketball players will be featured in a future edition.
Zolon Knoll is a day student from Sewanee and a 7-year member of the swim team. Zolon holds the SAS team record in the 100 yd Individual Medley and is a member of the 2020 record-setting 200 yd Freestyle Relay, 200 yd Medley Relay, and 400 yd Freestyle Relay teams. Zolon has consistently qualified for the State Swim Meet in Freestyle, Butterfly, Individual Medley, and Backstroke events, finishing the 2020 season with two top 25 finishes at States in the 100 yd Butterfly (20th) and 100 yd Freestyle (24th). Zolon is also an honors student, a Student Representative to the Curriculum Committee, and a Proctor. Zolon intends to pursue his interests in the German language in college, as well as his passion for swimming by competing at the collegiate level.
Xavier Thompson is a boarding student from Kingston, Jamaica, and a 3-year participant on the wresting team. He received the 2019-20 Coaches Award. Coach Monahan noted, “Xavier came to wrestling with a background in mixed martial arts which served him well on the mat.  Possessing flexibility unmatched on the boys team, Xavier could literally bend himself out of tough spots.  He grew as a wrestler each year.”
Jack Tse is a boarding student from Atlanta and a 2-year participant on the wrestling team. Coach Monahan noted, “As a black belt in karate, Jack possesses a great deal of poise and discipline. An extremely coachable athlete, Jack had a very strong season last year and we were hopeful for a strong 2020-21 season.”
