Why I'm A BHS Member:

Armando Villa-Ignacio
Sky and Sagan Harris were the people that first brought me into barbershop. Sky told me she was starting a chorus and wanted me to join. I couldn’t at the time, but I then joined about a year after and I’ve been hooked ever since. The music is what got me into barbershop... however, getting to meet such incredible people that truly have turned into life long friends and family is why I stayed.

Legacy Quartet Championship

This brand new contest event was created to celebrate 25 of the best Barbershop Harmony Society quartets to never win the gold. Support from all 17 districts funded the digitization of these performances, some of which date back as early as the 1950s… and many have not been seen since appearing on the contest stage.
Proceeds from event ticket sales will support BHS programs and initiatives, including the BHS Archives Project, which supports the preservation of historic performances like these and allows us to share them with our worldwide audience.

Interactive chat room access is only available with a ticket purchase, so make your plans to join the conversation. This is a Zoom chat you WILL NOT want to miss! BONUS: Ticket holders will also determine the top ten with a ranked choice vote after the Semifinals.

Updated Guidance for Singing Together

A preliminary release of results from scientific studies show that singing and theatrical speaking can widely spread droplets which may contain viruses — and that masking, limited contact time, good ventilation, and air filtration are essential elements in reducing risk.

Studies underwritten by a large alliance of music, education, and arts organizations (including the Barbershop Harmony Society), focus on “on the distribution of respiratory aerosols that are released while playing wind and brass instruments, singing, acting, speaking, dancing, and during a simulated aerobic activity.”

Informed by these findings, the Society has updated its COVID-19 Interim Guidance For BHS Ensembles And Singing Communities.

First, please understand that nothing is risk free. Circumstances and conditions vary by location, so be sure to follow any and all guidelines set forth by local, regional, state/provincial, and/or national governing agencies. Also bear in mind that most guidelines are not geared towards singers.
Physical distancing of 6 feet should be maintained at a minimum, and increased whenever possible. Always exercise an abundance of caution. We are not suggesting that all ensembles should be rehearsing at this time. If you decide on your own to get together, develop a detailed plan of action and use your best judgement.
