Sifaka Breeding Program Expands Internationally

This summer and fall, the DLC shipped eight Coquerel's sifakas to three European zoos in an historic expansion the the Coquerel's sifaka breeding program—marking the beginning of a new chapter in lemur conservation. 

Opossum vs. Aye-aye: Who rules the night?

Science Friday recently celebrated six of the world's strangest creatures—including this friendly head-to-head battle between two unconventially cute nocturnals: the aye-aye and the opossum! Watch as Megan McGrath, the DLC's Education Programs Manager, defends the weirdly wonderful aye-aye.

Borruel Center for Lemur Medicine and Research

Construction of the Anna Borruel Codina Center for Lemur Medicine and Research is nearly complete, and we're thrilled to begin moving our veterinary care and research staff into the building early in the new year!

ICYMI: World Lemur Day

If you couldn't join us live for World Lemur Day on 10/29, you can catch up on all the action right here!

Start by traveling (virtually) to Madagascar to join DLC-SAVA educator Evrard Benasoavina on a live nature walk with children from Ambatofisaka, as they learn about lemurs, conservation, and the importance of healthy ecosystems. Then, return to Durham for breakfast with sifakas and red ruffs in the DLC's forested enclosures, hosted by Duke University and DLC staff.
