This year marked the ninth annual event, originated by LA5 in a church parking lot to provide a few hundred families in need with holiday toys and food. Now Angel City is an all-day festival as Rotary’s largest service project in the greater Los Angeles area.

On the crisp Thursday morning after Christmas, Brenda, Sally, Richard, and I represented LA5 at Phoenix Decorating, working 8 hours to build Rotary’s 2019 Rose Parade float.

Holiday Lights Cruise

Liz Skrzat, LA5's Social Events Chair along with the Honorable John Green kicked the holidays off in fine fashion by putting together a great LA5 getaway to the famous Holiday Lights Cruise in Newport Beach

In Memoriam: Don Alan Swenson 

Don Swenson, a longtime resident of Arcadia and executive in downtown Los Angeles, died on December 15 at his home in Arcadia, surrounded by his family. He was 88. He was born in Hollywood and attended schools throughout California before graduating from Abraham Lincoln High School in San Francisco.
Following his family to Oahu, he attended the University of Hawaii before transferring to UCLA, where he graduated in 1952. At UCLA, he was affiliated with Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a proud Bruin for life. 

In Memoriam: Darrell Joseph Bogardus 

"Bogy" Bogardus passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving evening, at the age of 99. Bogy was born in Berkeley, California. After graduating with a degree in Agriculture from the University of California, Berkeley, he married his sweetheart, Doris Lagomarsino and left to serve in the US Army during WW II.
During their 76 years together, Doris and Bogy raised two daughters, and currrently have 7 grands and 9 great-grandchildren who love and will miss their "Papa." Following his military service, Bogy joined his father's brokerage firm in Los Angeles.
