When Will I Know How My Child Did On STAAR?
Students across RISD and the state are taking their state STAAR tests this month. Parents will receive letters with results, in a timeframe dependent on the type of test. Grades 3-8: A letter will be sent home to parents with results in July. Letters will include information that will allow parents to view their child’s Confidential Student Report (CSR) through the Texas Assessment Management Systems (TAMS) website, estimated to be ready in mid-July. CSRs will also be added to RISD’s Focus software when available from the state, allowing parents to view reports through a Focus parent account. Hard copies of the CSR will be available for parents to pick up from their child’s school on July 25.

Grades 5 & 8 Reading and Math Only: Parents received a letter last month with their child's results. Results for students who re-tested this week will be sent home to parents by the end of the school year, along with grade placement committee and summer school information. STAAR EOCs: A letter was sent home to parents with results and cumulative EOC performance history the last week of May.  Letters include information that will allow parents to view their child’s Confidential Student Report through the TAMS website, estimated to be ready in mid-June. CSRs will also be added to RISD’s Focus software when available from the state, allowing parents to view it through a Focus parent account. Hard copies of the CSR will be available for parents to pick up from their child’s school on July 25.

The state’s Confidential Student Reports have changed this year, as have the descriptions of the four possible levels of STAAR performance (see graphic). While the descriptions have changed, the levels required to meet the performance standards have not changed, after increasing last year.
