What did you do for the 4th? I was out of the country, so I vicariously saw the cookouts, etc via social media. I do believe that homeownership is still part of the American Dream, but perhaps with a twist. The 'twist'? Eliminate debt prior to purchasing a home. This gives most people true financial independence. I remember my grandparents saving for items they wanted, but didn't necessarily need. They didn't use credit for 'unimportant' things. This is why their credit scores were in the high 700s although they made substantially less money than many. I grew up in the 80s. The "Don't Worry, Be Happy" decade. Not good! lol So, we must do better once we know better.
We are halfway through 2016 and it is time to plan for 2017. What!?! So soon? Yes, because what you desire in 2017 will set up your goals for the rest of 2016. Remember, Einstein brilliantly said: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Just as importantly, stop showing your children and/or community by your actions "insanity". The worse case scenario: You cannot move forward in the way you expected, but you CAN move forward. You have taken the first step (you are reading this); now you must keep moving forward.

"I am coming into a lump sum of money and I know I need help. I will be hiring you!"
I am not a financial planner, but in conjunction with one we are helping my client prepare for her retirement AND her present credit/financial issues. It is a win-win. :)

"If it wasn't for Cohort 10 and accountability I would have hit some roadblocks and stopped. Sure I would have tried to get it done, but I would have been scattered and missed the important things. In my year of systems, I feel a sense of accomplishment."
