IUP Values Me
Student Spotlight: Eman Soliman
Eman is majoring in biology/pre-med, with a minor in chemistry, and will graduate this May. She is a Cook Honors College student, a Provost Scholar, a Promising Scholar, and a Biology Honors student. Eman holds many leadership roles on campus, including as an IUP Ambassador, the communications chair of the American Medical Student Association, a BioME peer mentor, and vice president of the Pre-dental Society. She is both a BURE (Biology Undergraduate Research Experience) and U-SOAR (Undergraduate Summer Opportunities for Applying Research) scholarship recipient. She also presented her work at the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania University Biologists convention. Stop by the Office of Undergraduate Research or Weyandt Hall to see her research poster! We thank you, Eman!
Todd is a faculty member and assistant director in the Department for Disability Access and Advising (D2A2). In this role, he works with IUP students and personnel to coordinate accommodations for students with disabilities that are compliant with federal legislation. He educates the campus community to encourage an inclusive institutional environment. Todd coordinates the annual Coppler Disability Awareness Award, which recognizes students who contribute to disability awareness and inclusion at IUP, and the Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society, an academic honors organization for IUP students with disabilities. Todd is a member and current chair of the Research Review Panel for the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) and a member of the Editorial Review Board for AHEAD’s Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability. He serves on the Core Leadership Group for NextGen’s Student Support Council, the President’s Commission on Diversity and Inclusion, and the Student Success Think Tank. We thank you, Todd!
A note about IUP Values Me: Each week, we will highlight one student and one staff member to “shine a spotlight” on their leadership and involvement in campus programs and their great work assisting our campus community with diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and/or civil rights awareness. If you have a suggestion for an IUP community member to feature in this section, please email social-equity@iup.edu.
