Hello BHS Community - we have nearly reached our two week winter break which always feels a little bit like sliding into home plate headfirst…! Here is wishing everyone a much deserved and needed two weeks off to step away from our daily routine a bit, relax, and practice self-care in whichever way may suit you.

We have celebrated wonderful community traditions in the last month including an outstanding production of our fall play, A Wrinkle In Time, fall sports successes both regionally and at the state level, our newly reformed debate team competing in their first tourney, a successful food drive and nearing the conclusion of our holiday toy drive, and acts of kindness throughout our campus in so many ways each day. It is always a joy to be in our school community!

In the new year we intend to find continued ways to partner with the adults in our students’ lives as we work in partnership to support and co-navigate the many ways in which being a high school student in 2022 remains starkly different than the experiences that we adults experienced even as recently as 10+ years ago. There is much to consider as we work to support our youth in both the academic and social/emotional aspects of these pivotal years. Please reach out to us anytime you would like to discuss ways we can support you in this journey and look for upcoming announcements from the school coming soon.

Wishing you a peaceful vacation and a happy new year!

PARENT PEER SUPPORT GROUPS

Starting in January!

BYS is offering new peer support groups for parents of school-age children starting in January. These groups are designed to give parents support and skills by hearing from other parents in similar life stages. Each facilitated group will address the needs of the specific age and development of the targeted age of the children. For more details, or to sign up, please go to raisingresilience.org.
PTSO NEWS

Happy Holidays!

We would like to thank the YES! Foundation and Helpline House for being our guest speakers at the PTSO meeting on December 6. Both organizations make a huge impact on our school and community and we are proud to be associated with them.
We are pleased to announce that Happy Crow Press is the Candy Friday sponsor for December. A big shout out to our own Shannon Taylor, author of The Advent Box, available at Eagle Harbor Books and wherever books are sold. The students really appreciate the Candy Fridays. It’s an ideal time to engage with a quick chat with our amazing staff. Click here to learn more about how to sponsor Candy Fridays.
