Covid Testing Info: This last week, the Northshore School District launched the COVID-19 testing program for all students grades 2-12. If you have not already done so, we are asking you to go to this site to provide your consent for your child to participate in batch testing for COVID-19. This consent must be completed in order for your child to be included in the testing program. When you sign up, you will be asked to submit this unique code (ns-inglemoor), which will allow us to know which students and staff are participating in this important method to help keep COVID-19 cases low and school buildings open.
As the name “batch” suggests, everyone in a classroom or cohort puts their test samples together in a batch vial with no names or personally identifiable information.
A few key points to emphasize:

Your child will only be tested if you give your consent at this link.
To opt out your child, click on this link.
If a student or staff member is opted out of testing, but their classroom or first-period class cohort has a positive COVID test result, they will still be required to quarantine for 14 days.

Last week in a Minneapolis courtroom, a jury reached a guilty verdict in the trial seeking justice for the murder of George Floyd. This verdict represented that there is accountability for the actions of the person convicted. We also recognize that this type of accountability happens too infrequently for people of color, and believe this needs to change. This is change that can happen by everyone doing the necessary work to recognize the inequities that exist within our social systems and by addressing broader issues of systemic racism within our society. This verdict also creates a moment of accountability that we believe must be seen as an opportunity to continue moving forward in our work toward creating racially just systems in every aspect of our communities, including our educational systems. Racial injustices have existed for far too long, and this verdict illuminates that change we must continue to see and highlights the work we must continue to do as a school and as a community.
At Inglemoor, we are committed to continuing our work toward dismantling systems of oppression our students face, empowering our students’ voices, and lead the charge to address broader issues that perpetuate educational inequities including access for all to our programs, eliminating financial status as a barrier to access and success, and support every student based on individual needs. While this is and will always continue to be a work in progress, it is a movement within Inglemoor that we are proud of, as we want all students at IHS to feel safe, seen, heard and valued as they continue on their journey to be their best selves. We feel that now, more than ever, is a time to commit, or re-commit to stopping the injustices we see around us, and to treat each other with the care and respect that every human deserves.
We encourage you to discuss the verdict with your family and focus on how we as a society can move forward. We also recognize that these are difficult conversations to have because of the anger, pain, and trauma that comes along with race-related violence. Here are some ways to discuss difficult topics that often pair with trauma.

Parent Education Resources: Pillars at IHS
Talent surrounds us everywhere at IHS! See picture right below this article.
While we have not been able to see each other regularly for quite a while, we have been able to see some of the amazing talents of our students on display. Our counseling office has recently redecorated and is displaying some fantastic images donated from the photography of students at Inglemoor. Another way we have been able to connect with students is by allowing students to showcase their artistic talent through paint! Specifically, students have been invited to work with administrators to paint a pillar on our campus. We have had many students individually and as small groups plan, and create unique and colorful designs and the creativity is inspiring. From music themed pillars outside our music building, to nature designs near our science buildings, and words of welcome and wisdom in other areas, each pillar is an expression of our Viking spirit.
We can't wait to welcome each and every student back to campus when the time is right, and we hope that this is just one way to make our campus feel welcoming to all. If your student has an idea for a design and would like to make a mark on our campus in a positive way, please have them contact our Assistant Principal, Mr. Rainwater for more information on this fun project. We can't wait to see what new ideas and talents will be on display next!

Program for Parents/Caregivers. Anchored Families is founded upon the principles of joy, connection and trauma informed practices. How we show up for ourselves and our kids impacts our ability to experience joy and true connection. Now, more than ever, is the time to deepen adult well-being and confidence by focusing on creating trauma-informed environments for families through a holistic approach that includes considerable and sustainable care for the adults. To support parents in doing just that, Cher Anderton, MSW, LSWAIC has created an innovative online course composed of five asynchronous modules accessible any time throughout the subscription year, a workbook and twice monthly live online coaching where parents can dive deeper into implementation and practice of the 5 Must Have Tools In Your Parenting Toolbox. By intentionally practicing these tools, we can learn to model the very skills we want our kids to emulate. The course was created using concepts from evidence-based practices such as Positive Discipline (a parenting approach that is culturally responsive and mutually respectful of kids and adults) and social and emotional learning competencies from The Collaborative for Academic, Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL). We are bringing this program to our parent/caregiver community because of expressed need for Parent Education during remote learning. This program was created because many of you expressed that you want to connect with other parents and they are open to trying new programs. We realize parents and caregivers are now taking on more roles in the household, and we want to help you develop some new ways to structure your home environment so that everyone in the household feels as fulfilled and successful as possible. This course will give everyone an opportunity to learn new tools that can be introduced into the home that create a better home and remote learning environment for your teen.
Participation in this program is free of cost, and all parents/caregivers can join by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org for the information to sign in. You can complete the course at your own pace now through the end of the current school year. It is just for Inglemoor families. Thank you!
If you would like to arrange an early dismissal for your student, please give at least a 2 hour advance notice to the attendance office. Your student will be allowed to leave as soon as their name is called by their teacher, and then they have to check in with our attendance secretary before they leave campus. Please do not leave a voicemail with an early dismissal notice as it may be missed.
Wednesdays are school days, they are just an all day asynchronous session. If your child was marked absent on a Wednesday, it means they missed a scheduled office hours session with their teacher. Please have your student email their teacher and our attendance secretary to have it excused.
Flex time is required for attendance. If your child needs to be excused from flex time, we require at least a 2 hour advance notice. For example, your student does not feel well or has a pre arranged medical appointment are reasons we can excuse for early dismissal. If your student has an early dismissal pre-arranged with the attendance office already, please make sure your student checks in with the attendance office to sign out before leaving campus.
This is a reminder that we are asking for verification of your Senior's name for their High School Diploma. The senior can access the form needed via this link using their Inglemoor Google account.

All fines and fees must be paid/cleared in order to pick up your student's Cap, Gown, & Honor Cords on Wednesday, April 28th. Check your student's account balance and make payments online with your family’s official TouchBase login (Guest logins will not work). If you need your Username & Password, email the IHS Bookkeeper.
If you would like to pay by check or have textbooks or items that need to be returned to clear a fine, bring them with you on Wednesday the 28th.
If you believe a fine or fee was assessed in error, email Mrs. Clawson. If you have personal financial concerns, assistance is available, so please email your student's guidance counselor.
Cap and Gown Distribution will be happening on Wednesday, April 28th for students that have already placed an order through Jostens. If you have not yet placed an order, there is still time to do so! Please see the information about ordering through Jostens on our website.
If you have not yet placed an order for a cap and gown due to financial barriers, or you would like to request to borrow a cap and gown, please be sure to fill out the google form (use student email to access form). There will be a second distribution date set up for these caps and gowns closer to the graduation date.
We have a limited supply of available caps and gowns for loan, so please be aware that priority will be given to those families that have identified a need for this resource and we will do our best to accommodate any additional requests.
Cap Decorating Requirements:
* The decoration must be school appropriate.
* The decoration must not be any more than 2 inches in height off the top of the cap (no giant space needles pasted to the top).
* No acronyms. The person checking the cap must be able to understand what you are referencing.
A tradition at Inglemoor High School is to create a slideshow for the seniors to celebrate our K-12 years. The slideshow is usually shown at the end of the senior assembly. We will be showcasing this video at our Senior Breakfast on June 14th. We want to collect photos now to be prepared. We need you to submit pictures of your student by April 30th. These pictures need to show groups of 3 or more, be school appropriate and cannot be selfies.

We are excited to announce that we have received approval for an in-person on campus activity at IHS. Over the past couple of years students have been painting the concrete pillars on our campus as a way to transform our campus and make sure our student voices and talents are on display at IHS. This also will make our school feel more welcoming when we do return in person and will give students a chance to leave a legacy on our campus.

Many seniors have finished their High School & Beyond Plan, however we still have students who need to finish a few tasks. IHS students can sign up for Virtual College Visits in Naviance. This is a great opportunity to talk to college admission representatives!

When you click on the Naviance icon/button it will go directly into the student's Naviance account.

Changes in Immunization Requirements
Starting August 1, 2020, all immunization records turned in to schools or childcare centers are required by state law to be medically verified. This means immunization records turned in to the school must be from a health care provider, or you must attach paperwork from a health care provider to your handwritten form that shows your child’s records are accurate. In addition, a complete immunization history is required prior to school attendance – there is no longer a 30-day grace period to submit missing vaccination dates.
Only health care provider verified vaccination records are accepted; we can no longer accept parent reported vaccination dates.
We can no longer grant a 30-day grace period to assemble missing records.
Parents and guardians of students whose records are out of compliance will be notified by the school nurse. Please follow up with your health care provider and submit updated records by email or fax (contact info below).
Please know that students whose vaccination status is “out of compliance” will be unable to receive in-person instruction or participate in activities on campus until required immunizations are complete and medically verified, OR laboratory evidence of immunity is received, ORl a signed exemption form is on file with the school nurse.
If your child already meets immunization requirements and has records on file with the school, you do not need to do anything. If you aren’t sure, compliance can be checked online at MyIR.net.

News from the IB Coordinators:
May 2021 Exam Session Update:
In the last few weeks the IB Coordinators and Inglemoor and Northshore Administrators have been seeking input from all stakeholders to determine the feasibility of holding in-person IB Examinations in May. After careful consideration we have determined that we would be unable to assure that we could provide a testing environment in an equitable manner in which all students would feel safe.
Inglemoor High School WILL NOT be holding in-person (or remote) IB exams in May of 2021. This decision was made in the interests of safety and equity, as well as in the interest of providing our students the surest beneficial route to positive assessment outcomes. Instead of in-person exams, IBO is allowing schools the option to use a slightly modified version of the assessment model from May 2020. In this model, students will still submit Internal Assessment (and if their subject requires it, External Assessment) work. IBO will evaluate this work, along with Predicted Grades for each student as submitted by their teachers. IBO has created an algorithm based upon the last 22 years of Inglemoor results in order to determine and award accurate scores. Last year, Inglemoor scores were slightly above our historical averages. We expect a similar outcome this year.
Students should look for guidance from their teachers as to what work will be submitted to IBO as well any deadlines for the submission of that work. These deadlines have already been provided to the IB teachers and they are already in the process of supporting students to complete this required work.

Students interested in pursuing the full Diploma Program should complete the 2023 IB Diploma Class Statement of Interest logging in with their student email address. We recommend that you complete this form with your parent or guardian. Please understand that this form does not register you for classes. It is simply a way for you to plan for your diploma and it helps the IB Coordinators plan for the 2021-2022 academic year.

Thanks to everyone who responded to the call for CAS volunteers at the beginning of the year. Elizabeth Lund now has the entire class of 2021 covered, as well as the diploma class of 2022.
IB Boosters continues to support student learning in IB English classes and foreign languages with classroom grants. If your workplace offers matching grants, please consider filling out the form for company matching. It is easy to become a member at the IB Boosters website.
To those families who have already become members, thank you so much! Your support, particularly this year, has provided consistent financial support to our IB staff.
We know that as the Class of 2021 brings their high school career to a close, there is a desire to recognize their many achievements. At the district level, planning for year-end activities is underway. The IB Coordinators are tracking this process very closely and as soon as these plans begin to take shape, they will communicate that information to the Boosters and the parents. We appreciate your patience as we await direction from NSD.

If you or anyone you know would like to consider donating to our InvestEd Fund, we can assure you that all money goes directly into the school's account, which is managed by the counseling department. InvestEd has very defined standards for how they allow us to use the money, but it always goes to individual students to support their basic needs or engagement with school. The best part about this fund is that it does not require any student to jump through hoops or fill out paperwork, it is simply a request that goes through the counseling department and we take care of it from there.
So far this year, we have used the money to support families with utility bills, warm winter clothing, groceries, and most recently, tutoring supports for our most at-risk students. If you would like to know more, you can read information about the program on their website. Families that are interested in having their money go to Inglemoor students directly can currently send a check to our bookkeeper, with a note that they would like the funds to be distributed in our InvestEd account. There are no fees associated with the account and our bookkeeper, Lesley Clawson is always sure to get the funding to us ASAP. Feel free to connect with her directly.
IHS Library/Class Material Pick Up HERE using student's email ID.
Library books and class/school materials will be available for library back door pick up/return each Wednesday from 11:00-1:00, student pickup at the Library front desk on school days, or there is also limited home delivery of items by librarians. There are no more bus deliveries or collection.
Student Financial Resources Available: If students are in need of financial assistance with any school costs (e.g., lunch, field trips, etc.) please have students reach out to their counselor or administrator.
Teachers and staff would be delighted to have easy to grab-and-go items for students who are hungry at school. We will need items kids can eat easily passing between classes or standing outside the classroom door for a couple minutes. We need to avoid items that require cooking, utensils, or slow eating.
Requested items: bottled water, granola bars, meat sticks, dried fruit, nut, or trail mix packs, cracker bags, etc.
Donations can be dropped off at the Library back door any Wednesday 11am-1pm, or at other times as arranged. Contact Julie Westerbeck with questions.

Link Crew: Attention all current Sophomores and Juniors! If you are interested in being a Link Crew Leader for next school year, we would love to have you apply. We are looking for kind, helpful students who want to contribute to welcoming the incoming Freshman class to IHS next year. Applications will be sent out via email and posted on the IHS homepage on April 5th. Please check your student NSD email or see the IHS homepage for the link to the application. Applications are due by no later than 3pm on April 26th.
Class Office Positions: Hey Viks! Are you interested in making a difference at IHS? Do you want to utilize your leadership skills to change the climate and culture of Inglemoor High School? Consider applying to be an ASB class officer for the 2021-2022 school year. Applications will open on April 1st. Students click here using your email ID, to review the Class Officer packet and deadlines. Click here to complete the online Class Officer application. All applications need to be submitted by students via this google doc by April 23rd at 3 pm. Please email Mrs. Kowalski (email@example.com) or a current ASB executive officer for more information.
Did your student have a class fee or an ASB club fee during first Semester? To see if your student has an outstanding fee, please take a moment to log into your family's TouchBase account. To access your account online, you need an official parent TouchBase login (this is different from ParentVue). Email Mrs. Clawson to obtain your family's username and password.
A fee that has not been paid or cleared does become a fine--there is no late fee added, but any fines that are still unpaid at the end of the school year will limit your student's ability to receive a yearbook or transcript copies for colleges. Financial assistance is available. Please contact your guidance counselor if you need help covering the cost of your fees. If you have any questions about your account, please contact Mrs. Clawson or your counselor who are happy to help.
Many students and families have reached out to us about purchasing ASB cards. Currently, ASB cards can only be purchased for students who are involved in a club that is attending conferences or competing. ASB card fees will be assessed to individual student accounts as the club member names are provided to us from the advisors. This year, cards will be broken up into semester 1 and semester 2. Each semester will have a $30 ASB card. This means that if a club or activity only competes during one semester the student will only be charged $30 for the semester that their club or activity is competing in. This formula will also be applied to sports when they begin as well.
As we enter different stages in the Northshore Learning Model Status, ASB cards may be available for purchase by all students. We will continue to update you as we enter new stages.
