We are excited to share our 2021-2022 Annual Report. This year was full of extraordinary growth. The annual report highlights our accomplishments and vision for the future.
Once again, we are thrilled to collaborate with the Vanderbilt Postdoctoral Association (VPA) to host the 16th Annual VPA Symposium on October 27. We hope to see you at the symposium! Below you will find links for more information regarding the upcoming symposium and other events and opportunities.
Please note that benefits open enrollment for both VU- and VUMC-employed postdocs is taking place in October. Read more below and mark your calendars for these important dates. VUMC open enrollment has already begun as of October 4.
Finally, we enjoyed celebrating National Postdoc Appreciation Week with you. We appreciate your participation in our various events, including Coffee Hour stops and the Annual Family Picnic. 16th Annual Vanderbilt Postdoc Symposium

Registration is now open for the 16th Annual VPA Symposium, which will be held in-person, at the Student Life Center (located at 310 25th Avenue South, on Vanderbilt’s campus), on October 27.
This one-day symposium will provide an opportunity for postdocs to network, engage in scientific discussions, and hear about the amazing research being conducted by fellow postdoctoral scholars.
The symposium will include:
- Welcome Remarks from André Christie-Mizell, Vice Provost for Graduate Education, Dean of the Graduate School, and Director of the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at Vanderbilt University

Graduate and Postdoc Academic SuccessOPA is excited to introduce the newly restructured office, the Graduate & Postdoc Academic Success (GPAS). They are here to support graduate students and postdocs with anything that keeps them from doing their best academic work. They provide strategies to address concerns around progress and productivity, as well as, navigating academic relationships. They address your needs through 1-on-1 consultations and success planning sessions. Additionally, both of their staff members are Gallup-Certified Strength Coaches and able to give you access to the CliftonStrengths Assessment to help you accomplish your best work utilizing an authentic approach to who you are and how you show up. If you are interested in meeting with one of the staff members, you can schedule an appointment here. The National Postdoc Association's postdoc needs assessment survey is currently open until October 7. This survey helps get a pulse on postdoc concerns and identify current gaps in postdoctoral support. You do not need to be a member of the NPA to complete the survey.

NC State University Building Future Faculty Program
The NC State Building Future Faculty (BFF) Program is a two-and-a-half-day all-expenses-paid workshop for doctoral candidates and post-doctoral scholars who are interested in pursuing academic careers and who are committed to promoting diversity in higher education.

ASMBM Virtual Career Expo is November 2, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
This symposium will facilitate career exploration across 25+ careers outside academia. The event provides training researchers the opportunity to have small group informational interviews with current professionals to learn about their careers and career path. All postdocs are welcomed to register. There will be five sessions featuring each of the following five sectors: industry, government, science communication, science policy and others.

Speaker applications are now open for TedXVanderbiltUniversity 2023. Applications are due on October 12, 2022. The TedXVanderbiltUniversity event will take place on April 18, 2023, on-campus and in person.

Updated Health and Safety Protocols
Vanderbilt University will no longer require masking or physical distancing indoors. Individuals will have the option of wearing a mask indoors, including in classrooms, offices, labs, dining, and community spaces. For more information on University protocols, visit the Health and Wellness website.
Vanderbilt University Medical Center no longer requires masks in indoor, non-clinical areas for vaccinated individuals. Masks are still required in clinical areas, which are defined as anywhere a patient and family member would be regularly found. Other information on Covid-19 can be viewed on the VUMC Clinician and Employee Guidance website.
COVID-19 symptomatic testing for the Vanderbilt community is available at Occupational Health in Suite 112, Mondays - Fridays, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m., and at Vanderbilt Health Walk-In Clinics and Vanderbilt Health Clinics at Walgreens.
