SERENITY RIDGE'S NEW
Sarah first came to Serenity Ridge through an Insight Meditation Community of Charlottesville retreat in March 2019 and started cooking with Pat Leavitt, former kitchen manager and head chef at Serenity Ridge, shortly thereafter. Her passion for food stems from her experiences studying food sovereignty with women farmers in Central and South America. Prior to joining Serenity Ridge, Sarah managed food-producing gardens at the Charlottesville Catholic Worker community, served as a worker-owner with the edible landscaping cooperative C’ville Foodscapes, and propagated plants at Edible Landscaping Nursery in Afton. Her interests lie at the intersection of nutrition, optimal wellness, and environmental sustainability. She loves providing simple, nourishing, healing meals for all who come to stay at Serenity Ridge— providing vegetarian and vegan food, with gluten-free options—as well as sharing knowledge and resources, so come say hello! Serenity Ridge provides vegetarian and vegan food, with gluten-free options. When she’s not managing the kitchen, you can find her relaxing in nature or out on the water learning to sail.
From the Kitchen
SARAH SHARES HER RECIPE
5 cups fresh greens (basil, arugula, stinging nettle, carrot tops, kale, or collards)
1 cup nuts (walnuts, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and hemp seeds all work well)
3 tablespoons chopped garlic
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 cups olive oil
1/2 cup nutritional yeast
1/2 tablespoon lemon zest
2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
Blend together in a blender or food processor. Enjoy!
