The time between the Thanksgiving holiday and winter break is always a whirlwind of activities–students are studying for final exams, faculty are wrapping up their courses and research and staff are finalizing projects before calendar year end.
In acknowledgement and celebration of employees' hard work during the year, Chancellor Diermeier announced that Vanderbilt will add two administrative days to winter break this year (now Dec. 21–Jan. 2). Our division is unique in that many staff are required to work during the winter break to ensure the university's smooth operation, and these individuals will receive alternate days off or pay for the administrative days, at management’s discretion. I encourage you to read the recent MyVU story and watch the recording of Chancellor Diermeier's all-staff meeting held last month.
While it is important for us to stay focused on our work and all that we do to contribute to the university’s mission, we must also take care of ourselves in order to show up as our best selves in our personal lives and in our work. I hope you take moments to enjoy the season as well as rest and recharge during your time away.
I sincerely appreciate all you do for this university. I wish you a wonderful holiday season and look forward to all we will accomplish in the new year.
Sincerely,
Eric Kopstain,
Vice Chancellor for Administration
