This month's partner is Citizens for a Safer Cleveland. They are a community coalition - led by Black Lives Matter Cleveland, the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, and Showing Up for Racial Justice NEO - that has come together to strengthen community oversight of police and increase resourcing for community-led violence intervention and restorative justice programs.
With the leadership of families who have lost a loved one to police, the coalition is launching a ballot initiative campaign to put a City of Cleveland charter amendment on the November 2021 ballot that would:
1) make the Community Police Commission, which is a community oversight commission created by the 2015 federal Consent Decree, permanent;
2) create a funding mechanism for the commission to provide grants to fund community-led violence intervention and restorative justice programs; and
3) increase the Commission's independence, authority, and resourcing, and overall strengthen its ability to serve as a vehicle for community voice and oversight.
All funds raised during the virtual festival will go towards the ballot initiative campaign.

Ignite! Impact Award Spotlight: Ian Charnas

We are proud to support long-time Ingenuity collaborator Ian Charnas with an Ignite! Impact Award for a new monthly initiative to scratch his creative itch. Each round, Ian brings a pop-culture icon or invention to life, documents the process on video, and then raffles the item for charity.
In his most recent video, Ian made an invisibility shield, and the auction for that shield raised over $1,700 for Share Our Strength. Stay tuned to catch his upcoming videos for a rocket sled and a DIY nuclear generator!
Ian is an engineer and makerspace co-founder who loves working on unusual projects: everything from musical tesla coils to computerized waterfalls. Subscribe to his YouTube channel, a mashup of the three things he loves most: science and engineering challenges, jokes and entertainment, and giving back through fundraisers and other public services.
In Ian's Own Words:
"I'm incredibly grateful to Ingenuity for being the fiscal agent (umbrella 501c3) which allows me to run these raffle fundraisers. Ingenuity's partnership removed a major obstacle, shaved weeks off the project timeline, and empowered me with the ability to focus on what I do best - making fun and unusual inventions to raise money for terrific organizations. Be on the lookout for a fundraiser built for Ingenuity in the near future!"

Hamilton Collaborative Spotlight:
Motogo by Skidmark Garage

Our friends and partners at Skidmark Garage are holding a fundraiser for Motogo Cleveland! From February 22-27, they will be raising money to bring back shop class! This year, you can expect a virtual carburetor class with Steve Knoble of Knoble Moto, Dine-In or Take-Out food from Noble Beast Brewing all week long (with a percentage of proceeds benefitting shop class), and a free Live Streamed Concert by Lil' Stem and the Valve Keepers!

Motogo’s mission is to teach kids to solve problems through motorcycles. They do that by bringing back shop class through partnerships with schools and community organizations. Motogo offers quarter-long and full-semester in-and-out-of-school STEM curriculums, and week-long summer camps for middle school and high school students.
