Dean's Welcome
Greetings, Hull Alumni and Friends!
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday and final exams shortly thereafter, the Hull College had an extremely busy and productive late October and November. This issue of Inside Hull provides you a comprehensive look at the events and people who impacted our students, businesses, and local communities during this time.
The end of October was chock-full of exciting events. First, Augusta University held its first post-pandemic Alumni Weekend, where we finally honored Distinguished Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni for 2020. During the same weekend, we were also able to convene our newly reconstituted Hull College Advisory Board, consisting of some of Augusta’s top business leaders who will help guide our College into the future. In late October, we also welcomed Hull’s rising juniors on Hull Declaration Day, as these students formally transitioned into the Hull College.
Like most months, executives came to visit the Hull College to provide our students perspectives on their companies and present internship and career opportunities. Textron Specialized Vehicles visited during our face-to-face Business Showcase, and Vinea Capital provided our virtual Business Connection.
We also bring you lots of good news on our programs and people in this issue of Inside Hull. On the program side, the Hull College is proud to be a newly Authorized Training Partner of the Project Management Institute, and we offered our first certification preparation course in October and November with our next course coming in February. On the people side, you can read about how our students helped support Operation Homefront’s Holiday Meals for the Military; how one of our undergraduate seniors, Korde Jones, was featured during AU’s Values Week; and how one of our great undergraduates was recognized at a national honors conference after being mentored by two of our outstanding faculty members. Finally, you’ll learn about accomplished alumna, Corrina Warner, who was recently named AU’s Vice President for Finance.
When we return from the Thanksgiving holiday, things do not slow down, but rather peak at the end of the semester, highlighted by our Economic Forecast Breakfast, featuring the insightful and entertaining Dr. Simon Medcalfe and the commencement ceremony for our Fall 2021 graduates.
As we enter the Thanksgiving season, I am grateful for our great faculty, staff, and students and the support we receive from you, our friends and alumni. I am so very thankful I am offered the opportunity to represent so many great people, and I hope you have a blessed holiday.
Go Jags!
