Black Student Association Awards

The Black Student Association (BSA) is excited to honor graduating African-American students at its 30th Annual Awards Ceremony scheduled to premiere February 25, at 6:00 pm, as a virtual celebration on the UTHSC YouTube channel.

 

This annual ceremony is an opportunity for us to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of graduating African-American students in the Colleges of Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy.

 

This year, Dr. Neal Beckford, associate professor in the Department of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, will be the keynote speaker.

From Health Equality to Health Equity: Changing Perspectives on Understanding Black Health

This virtual panel discussion on Thursday, February 17, at 12:00 pm CST will bring together various health professionals to speak on the recent shift from health equality towards health equity pertaining to how stakeholders understand the needs of African-American communities. This event is hosted by the Office of Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity. Register to receive the Zoom information.

Global Mental Health: Social Inequality, Social Justice, and Those Experiencing Mental Illness

The UTHSC community is invited to hear Dr. Arthur Kleinman's lecture on Thursday, March 3, 4:00 – 5:00 pm, in GEB A102 or via Zoom.
