Dear Class of 2026 & Transfers,

We hope you're all well! Here on campus, we experienced an unusual power outage last week that caused us to close offices for a few days and step away from our computers. Check out Stanford Dining's photos of Treeapalooza to see how we managed to cool off from the heat and have some fun together!
This week, read the Newsletter for the topics below. Also, remember that this is the final week to apply for SOAR's free summer courses in math and writing!
Feel free to reach out and let us know if we can help!

The OC Zone

Welcome to the OC Zone with our Orientation Coordinators! Meet the OCs on Instagram and get a peek into their office space, affectionately known as "the Bullpen", here in Sweet Hall.
Also on the OC Blog this week, we have a new set of posts on student life at Stanford! Olivia introduces you to Life on the Quarter System, Jason talks about Playing Club Sports at Stanford, Diego highlights his experience with Education as Self-Fashioning, and Zoë shares what it's like Transferring to Stanford.
The OCs have been hard at work both inside the office and out - here's a group photo above in front of the Firetruck House, home to Queer Student Resources and the Women's Community Center, two of our beloved community centers. We've tasked the OCs with an in-depth exploration of the Stanford campus to find all the best spots for the annual NSO Campus Map & Scavenger Hunt, which you'll receive at Move-In!

Advising Corner: Reflecting on the past, looking towards the future

As your Academic Advisors, we hope you are doing well as we come to the end of June. And we hope that you have taken some time to relax, to refresh from the end of the school year, and to reflect on your school and pre-Stanford experiences. Now, we know you are excited to get going on your Stanford journeys. But as we said in the Advising Newsletter last week, there isn’t that much academic planning that you need to be doing right now.
But that doesn’t mean you have to just sit on your hands. Here in Academic Advising, we think that reflection is a deeply important part of your Stanford experience. And reflection isn’t only about looking backwards; in fact, it can be most valuable when we use reflection to look forwards. So this week, we are suggesting that you take a little time to do some reflecting on your future goals.
In the Advising Newsletter, we spent some time talking about Stanford’s liberal arts educational model and what it hopes to achieve. How do your own goals fit in with the goals and expectations that Stanford has for you? You may find that your own goals shift and evolve as your Stanford career progresses. Your Undergraduate Advising Directors (UADs) will be here to support you as you pursue those goals—but the goals will always be your own, not ours. If you do some thinking about those goals in advance, we can be even more helpful when we first meet with you later this summer!
