DUKE SIGNS ON TO LETTER WARNING AGAINST CUTS TO NON-DEFENSE PROGRAMS IN FY24
A group of 760 organizations, including Duke University, sent a letter to congressional leadership expressing fears regarding proposed cuts in non-defense programs for FY24 and beyond. The letter states, "Such cuts would be disastrous for the capacity of the federal government to serve the public, assist those in need, fuel innovation, and address national and global threats." The letter calls on Congress to reject cuts to non-defense appropriations and set FY24 funding levels that recognize "rising costs and the need for investment in programs important to fostering economic growth and meeting human needs."
