FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
Hello BHS Community - Thank you so much to everyone who contributed in large and small ways to such a joyous Homecoming last week filled with the return of some special older traditions alongside some new ones  - it was so wonderful to see our students so happy to dress up on theme days, decorate our hallways, get loud in our pep assembly, paint their faces, wear togas, and genuinely enjoy the spirit of the week. On Saturday evening we hosted over 500 students who filled our new 100 building for the return of BHS school dances and I think it is safe to say that this event was a total success! Our leadership students knocked the planning of this dance out of the park! Special thanks to our amazing PTSO for the beautiful dessert spread for our students during the evening.
As a reminder, our first in-person open house for parents and guardians is next Thursday 10/20.  Please be sure to see the details below. We look forward to seeing you there and sharing many details with you about our school.
Go Spartans!

Please note that the survey is administered by a third party, and some questions/responses may not be relevant to BISD. In those cases, please select "NA" for your response.

ATTENDANCE BASICS IN A NUTSHELL

We encourage you to use the Skyward App!

Parents/Guardians ~ To authorize and excuse an absence, a late arrival to school, or an early departure*, please notify the Attendance Office, preferably before 10:00 AM the day of. Family Access is the most efficient way for BHS to receive your request; remember to enter date and times to bypass the automatic defaults. Or, call the Attendance line.

Students ~ Please also read Parents/Guardians section above. Late arrival to school ~ Go to the Attendance Office to get checked in and to get the pink tardy pass that you need to give to your teacher. (Signing in is mandatory for safety reasons.)
Leaving school early* ~ Go to the Attendance Office before class to get the green pass that you need to give to your teacher. Leave class at the approved time and sign out at the Attendance Office before leaving campus. If you return, sign back in as soon as you are on campus. (Signing out/in is mandatory.)

*If you belong to a BHS sport/club or classs that is leaving early or will be absent all day, your parent/guardian does not need to notify the Attendance Office, you do not need to get a green slip or sign out. The BHS coach/advisor or teacher will give BHS a list of students and attendance will be adjusted based on the approved departure time.

It’s quick and easy to enter your student’s absence requests in Skyward. Click here for a video overview. Click here to view screenshots and steps to entering an absence in the Skyward app.
