2023 National School Choice Week wrap up
GVSU-authorized charter public schools celebrated National School Choice Week in a big way this year, and the CSO is grateful for all who participated. Things that made us smile during the week include:
- Light of the World Academy and West Michigan Aviation Academy giving presentations to guests at the Capitol building in Lansing.
Eagle's Nest Academy staff and students creating an outstanding dance video.
Joanna Bennink, principal at West Michigan Academy of Arts and Academics, joining WGVU radio to talk about NSCW 2023.
Countless social media celebrations from schools like Black River Public School, Detroit Merit Academy, East Arbor Charter Academy, Oakland Academy, Old Mission Peninsula School, and many more!

Charter Board Presidents Leadership Retreat announced
The CSO is excited to invite board presidents of GVSU-authorized charter schools to the inaugural Charter Board Presidents Leadership Retreat on April 20, 2023.
The retreat will further develop board presidents as public servants who lead with a high degree of integrity. Held at the Gerald R. Ford Museum, the retreat will draw on the life of President Ford to “model the way” that presidents can increase their capacity to govern.
