BOYS BASKETBALL

BOYS BASKETBALL DEFEATS COLERAIN AND SYCAMORE



Mason Boys took down Colerain on Tuesday, January 29th by a final 56-45. It was a close contest until the fourth quarter when the Comets earned a 19-10 in the final frame to pull away. Landen Long led Mason with 18 points. Ethan Howard added 11. Mitch Greer tossed in 10.

The 
boy's team finished off "Cancer Free Kids" night this past Friday, defeating visiting Sycamore 51-43. Over $8000 was raised on this special evening that featured a twin bill with the Mason Girls Bball team. 

Landen Long was on fire for the Comets and poured in a game-high 26 points. Jack Cooper and Matt Minick dominated the boards for their team with each pulling down 10 rebounds. 

Mason (13-3, 9-3) will host Princeton this Tuesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL DEFEATS AVES

FALLS TO LAKOTA WEST

Mason's contest vs. Middletown on Wed., Jan. 30th was postponed due to cold and rescheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 12th. at 5:00 pm.

Mason Girls hosted Sycamore last Friday for a special doubleheader with the boy's team on "Cancer Free Kids" night. The evening raised over $8000 for this important cause.

Sade Tucker returned to the floor for the first time this season scoring 16 points to lead the Comets.

The Comets ran into a Lakota West "buzz-saw" this past Saturday losing 81-41. The Firebirds shot over 67% from the field in the final regular-season meeting between the two GMC powerhouses. Sammie Puisis led the Comets with 11 points. 

Mason will look to get back to their "winning ways" TONIGHT when they host Springboro in a non-conference affair.

Mason is the #4 seed in the upcoming Sectional and will face the winner of the Wilmington/Mt. Healthy contest, Wednesday, Feb. 20th, 7:30 pm at Lakota East.

THREE-PEAT FOR THE COMETS!


Congratulations to the Mason Boys Swimming & Diving Teams for defending their GMC team title this past Saturday. The Comet boys had a very close meet vs. rival Sycamore as both schools switched places throughout the meet. The Mason boys’ finally came out on top winning by only 13.5 points and scoring over 500 points! This was the Comet boy's 3rd straight GMC title and 7th overall! 

CONGRATULATIONS TO MASON DIVER MATTHEW WAGNER WHO WON HIS 2ND CONSECUTIVE GMC DIVER OF THE YEAR HONOR!

Congratulations to head coach Mark Sullivan for being named C0-GMC Coach of the Year! This is the 5th time he has either won or shared the boys COY title

The Southwest Sectional Swimming/Diving Championships are next for Mason. The meet is at Miami University with Diving on Wednesday, Feb. 6th and swimming on Friday, Feb. 8th.

12 STRAIGHT LEAGUE TITLES FOR GIRLS!


Congratulations to the Mason Girls Swimming & Diving team for defending their GMC team title over the weekend.  This is the girl’s 12th straight league title finishing 230 points ahead of runner-up Sycamore while totaling over 500 points as a team. Mason girls have won the GMC every year they have competes since joining the league in 2007-08. 

Congratulations to senior McKenzie Grau being named GMC Swimmer of the Year! Head Coach Mark Sullivan was honored with the GMC Girls Coach of the Year for the 7th consecutive season and 9th time overall for the girl's program.

200 Medley Relay – Meredith Wolf, Reese Lugbill, Harna Minezawa, & McKenzie Grau (NEW GMC RECORD!)

Leanna Wall – 200 & 500 Freestyle

McKenzie Grau – 50 & 100 Freestyle

Harna Minezawa – 100 Butterfly

Reese Lugbill 100 Breaststroke

Girls 200 Freestyle Relay – McKenzie Grau, Harna Minezawa, Leanna Wall, & Kiara Anchrum (NEW GMC RECORD!)

Girls 400 Freestyle Relay – Aubrey Whitaker, Leanna Wall, Kiara Anchrum, & Emily Yu 

Our GMC divers performed very well Friday night. Our girl divers finished 5th Lauren Lombardo, 6th Greta Coyner, & 8th Colleen Gorski.

The Southwest Sectional Swimming/Diving Championships are next for Mason ladies. The meet is at Miami University with Diving on Thursday, Feb. 7th and swimming on Saturday, Feb. 9th.

WRESTLING

WRESTLING MAKE 3X REGIONAL CHAMPS!
OFF TO STATE THIS COMING WEEKEND!


The Mason Comet wrestling team traveled to Beavercreek High School to compete in the 2019 OHSAA State Duals Regional on Saturday, February 2nd. For the third consecutive season, the Mason Wrestling Team earned the Region 7 Title! See team results below:

Round 2---Mason 67 vs Little Miami 12

Quarter Finals---Mason 51 vs Western Brown 22

Semi-Finals---Mason 42 vs Beavercreek 33

Finals---Mason 37 vs Harrison 31

The Comet wrestling team now moves on to wrestle next Saturday at the St. Johns Arena in Columbus, Ohio for the OHSAA Elite 8 State Team Championships. The team finals will conclude on Sunday.

COMPETITION CHEERLEADING QUALIFY TO STATE!

REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!


The Mason Competition Cheer Team won a Regional Championship on Sunday at Miamisburg HS. This qualifies Mason for the State Championships to be held March 10th at The Ohio State University!

Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches!

Next up the team competes at CheerMax at Great Wolf on Sunday, Feb. 10th.
