St. Luker Restores Hope Through the Gift of a Car
A St. Luke’s Saint donated his car to the Restoring Hope initiative at St. Luke’s. Lack of transportation is one of the key barriers to stabilizing families. This gift affords the new owner job security and relieves stress in navigating the daily life of a family. Families were invited to apply for the car, applications were reviewed by the restoring hope team, and a recipient was selected. The happy new owner shared, “Like it? I LOVE it! It is beautiful and is in extremely good shape. That’s a great BLESSING FROM THE LORD HIMSELF. I am beyond happy right now.”
Congratulations, Nan Slone
Outstanding Community Sponsor Award
St. Luke’s was honored as the Outstanding Community Sponsor of the Second Harvest Food Bank School Market Program! Nan Slone was particularly honored as our lead volunteer as was Jaime Clancy as the outstanding School Teacher/Mentor. This Restoring Hope initiative supplied over 9,600 meals through 8,000 student visits at Olympia High School Titan School Market. Congratulations Nan!
The Cub Scouts of St. Luke’s ended their scout year with an amazing Blue & Gold parade. Due to COVID19, the celebration was moved from a banquet to an auto parade. The Pack and Den Leaders stood outside St. Luke’s wearing face masks and social distancing. Each scout with their family drove through a line to receive their advancements and awards. After they were all handed out, and in cooperation with the Windermere Police department, 37 decorated cars drove through Windermere with horns honking and Scouts waving. The police had blocked the downtown area so all motorists were held to witness and participate. It was super fun. A day that the Pack 6 cub scouts of St. Luke’s will never forget.
