It is almost time! We are working to keep kids reading while earning books and materials for our school with our spring Scholastic Book Fair. We are so excited to be able to offer students a sense of normalcy and joy. Our Fair will connect kids to notable books and inspiring characters — helping them become lifelong readers. And all purchases will directly support our school!

Safety First: Safety and well-being is our priority. We’re taking extra precautions to host a safe, socially distanced fair at our school, focusing on preventive measures. All in-person students will have the opportunity to visit during a school day. Students may purchase books with e-Wallet during their visit but are not required to make a purchase at any time. Families who wish to visit in person can sign-up for a Monday time slot. Anyone is welcome to purchase books using our Book Fair homepage.

Contactless Checkout: With Book Fair e-Wallet, a convenient digital payment account, your child can shop the Fair cash-free. And now grandparents, friends, and others can contribute to the e-Wallet to help build your home library!

Shop Online: Experience the Book Fair fun by visiting our Book Fair online! You can shop over 6,000 products — and all orders ship directly to your home (free shipping on book-only orders over $25)!
All purchases made during the Fair will bring our school 25% in book and classroom material rewards.

Click here to visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with e-Wallet and/or online shopping
If you would like to visit as a family, click here to schedule an in-person visit.

We look forward to seeing your child at the Fair! Thank you for continuing to support our school. Contact Katie Sague, with any questions or for more information.
Happy reading!
During Lent, OLV will participate in CRS Rice Bowl, a faith-in-action program that invites us to reflect on the challenges of global hunger—and our responsibility to respond to the needs of our global human family. We will be reminded through the Gospel story of Jesus feeding the 5,000 that if we commit to sharing what we have with those in need, trusting in God's abundance, there is more than enough to feed everyone. Through our Lenten prayers, fasting and almsgiving, we can respond to the call to ensure that all our brothers and sisters are fed good, nutritious food that gives them what they need to fulfill their God-given potential.
During this holy season, it is important to come together as a family and reflect on the cross of hunger and lack of proper nutrition that so many of our brothers and sisters both near and far are forced to carry. In so doing, we pledge to stand alongside these members of our human family, supporting them as the Gospel calls us to do.
Please consider these suggestions in your family's Lenten plan:
- Use your CRS Rice Bowl and Lenten Calendar daily to guide your prayer, fasting and almsgiving.
- If you do not have a rice bowl, print this DIY Rice Bowl label and adhere it to a container.
- Use this Lenten calendar each day to practice the Lenten pillars of prayer, fasting and almsgiving.

Read the Stories of Hope and daily reflections to inspire your Lenten journey—and guide your Lenten almsgiving.

Prepare simple, meatless meals on the Fridays of Lent to eat in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world.

- Visit to watch videos of the people and communities you support through your Lenten gifts to CRS Rice Bowl.
We will collect your CRS Rice Bowls at the end of Lent, so stay tuned to learn more.
Thank you for participating in CRS Rice Bowl with your family.

Please be ready for an announcement related to school operations due to the expected inclement weather this week.
Can you join Catholic Charities to distribute food on Thursday, February 18 at Great Hope Homes in Silver Spring?  (1081 Good Hope Drive, Silver Spring)

Volunteers will help distribute food to community members in need. This will be a fun, quick, impactful event to help our neighbors during this pandemic.

As you know, volunteers make these distributions happen. If you're available, please sign up here and follow the instructions. Tell your friends to join too!

In February, OLV will support Catholic Charities with supplies for their dental clinic.  Students will decorate a sandwich bag on an in-person learning day to take home and bring back with dental supplies for the Catholic Charities Dental Clinics in DC and Maryland
Suggested items: Toothbrush (soft), Floss and Mouthwash (no alcohol & with flouride).
Please bring items for the clinic to OLV before Sunday, February 28th.  Thank you!
