Painting and Fiber

Fabulous Acrylic Pours
Students will explore and learn the popular and fascinating, fast, and exciting new art form of acrylic pours.
February 6, Saturday 1-4 pm and February 23, Tuesday 6-9 pm

Alcohol Inks
Students will explore the world of alcohol ink, using a variety of colors, including metallics, to create abstracts or abstract landscapes and florals. They will learn the characteristics of alcohol ink, and several techniques to manipulate the ink such as blowing with a straw, making color washes, misters, daubers, how to use medium and alcohol, and finish with rubber stamps.

Reverse Painting on Plexiglass
A style of painting "front-to-back" or "detail-to-background", working with negative space, in reverse of typical painting styles. Challenge your mind with this interesting technique that requires no advanced painting skills.

Intro to Needle Felting
In this class students will discover how fun and easy it is to create with wool fleece. From simple wool beads to intricately detailed small figures, the creative possibilities are endless! Students will leave class with new felted creations plus the tools and knowledge to keep on creating more at home.

Needle Felting Hearts
Learn the basics of needle felting while creating unique needle felted hearts for Valentine's Day. We will explore options for embellishing our hearts with more wool, beads and sequins. All supplies will be provided and you will take home felting tools, wool roving and inspiration to continue creating on your own.

Jewelry and Silversmithing

Beginning/Intermediate Silversmithing
Beginning students will learn how to fabricate jewelry from metal sheet and wire.  Begin with basic skills such as forging, soldering and setting cabochon stones.  Learn to use a jeweler's saw and other hand tools.

Interm/Adv Silversmithing - Jewelry Workshop
After learning basic silversmithing skills in the beginning class, students can hone those skills with guided individual projects. *Students must have taken the Beginning-Intermediate Silversmithing course or have instructor's permission to take this class.

Getting Real with Resin
Learn to work with ICE Resin, a non-toxic jeweler's grade resin that gives you endless possibilities for your jewelry designs! Pour the resin into a bezel setting or silicone mold, or even use it over paper. You can use lots of different images and materials with ICE Resin that will be sure to get your creativity running wild!

Beginning Lapidary - Cabochon Cutting
Cabochon cutting is a method of cutting gemstones with a convex, rounded surface that is polished but unfaceted. The back of a normal cabochon-cut stone is flat.
Students will learn how to take a stone from flat slab to a beautiful polished piece ready for jewelry or other artwork.

Crystal Clay Pendants & Rings
Create a statement ring or pendant using epoxy clay and raw crystals. This easy technique pairs molding and sculpting with raw stones to create dynamic organic rings and pendants that are bound to knock your socks off. Get the same look as PMC without the kiln work.

Weekend Adv Silversmithing - Jewelry Workshop
*Students must have taken the Beginning-Intermediate Silversmithing course or have instructor's permission to take this class. 
After learning basic silversmithing skills in the beginning class, students can hone those skills with guided individual projects. The instructor presents more techniques and working side by side with other students creating their individual projects broadens the experience.

Art in the Garden: Fused Bird Bath
You will create a unique fused birdbath to place in your yard for the birds to come frolic in.

Art in the Garden: Fused Geometric Plant Stakes
These fused bright colorful contemporary garden plant stakes will add a splash of color to your yard and patio.

Fused Coral Sea Bowl
You will be creating a beautiful sea-inspired coral bowl to adorn your tabletop.
Students will make a 10"-13" fused coral bowl using strips of glass. Additional design elements can be added with frit and nuggets.
February 7, Sunday 1-5 pm and March 14, Sunday 1-5 pm

Fused Pocket Flower Vase
You will be creating small pocket vases to hang and display your favorite flowers.
Students will learn basic fusing concepts. You will be using fiber paper to create your pocket shape. Students will get to make four small pocket vases. Additional design elements can be added with frit, stringers, noodles and nuggets.

Open Studio - Come & Play Friday
Explore what fused glass is all about while making an 8" round or square plate.  All you need to bring is your creativity!  Glass will be fired outside of class and ready for pick up at the Schack Art Center two weeks later.

Beginning Stained Glass
This introductory class provides a foundation for stained glass using the copper foil technique.  We will cover designing projects for glass, the art of glass cutting, grinding, foiling, soldering, finishing and presentation.

Glassblowing II
If you already know the basics of blowing glass, but aren't quite ready to work on your own, this class is for you. The use of handles, bits, and wraps will be covered, as will color application.

Lampwork Glass Beadmaking
If you're fascinated by baubles, bangles, and beads, this one day class is for you. You will make many glass beads as you learn the basic skills of heating Moretti (soft) glass, applying it to a mandrel, and shaping it with tools.

Continuing Lampwork Glass Beadmaking
If you have taken Beginning Lampwork Glass and would like an advanced course  in the medium, then this is the class for you. Continue to build your torch and shaping skills.

Join us for our new online Drawing class! We will be drawing a variety of subjects such as landscapes, animals, flowers and still lives in this class. We will be covering contrast, highlights/shadow, composition etc. The subjects will be taught in a step-by-step fashion. You will be able to follow along with the steps to achieve beautiful finished projects!

ZOOM Online class - Kid's Cartooning
Write! Draw! Ink! This workshop allows young artists to learn the process of cartooning. Students will follow along on a step by step basis to draw some favorite characters as well as create their own characters and write and draw their own stories.
