- Huge shout-out to our field day team of planners and volunteers that made our field day at Blackwell Elementary a huge success! Thank you to Mrs. Bey and Ms. Gray for planning and organizing the stations tirelessly before the big day. Thank you to our administration team, especially AP Smith, for bring it all together and being our "hype" woman. Thank you to Ms. Jackson for being our field day host and getting us pumped and ready to cheer our 3rd-5th graders on for their SOL testing journey. And thank you, thank you to our staff, volunteers and parents who came and helped out during our hot day but stayed for the duration. While the kids had a great time during field day, the day would not have been possible without all the hard work everyone put in. Great job, everyone!
- Thank you to our wonderful nurse at Blackwell Elementary, Ms. Perry. She is dedicated, patient, and hardworking every day. She is only one person, working to serve our students while also keeping up with all the paperwork required of a nurse. Happy School Nurse Week, Nurse Perry! Our school would not run smoothly without you taking care of us and keeping us healthy.
- Shout-out to the following staff from Boushall MS: school nutrition staff for their dedication and service; Mr. Pierce for this year's fashion show; Ms. Fitch and Mr. Carter for the Music in The Park scholar awards; Ms. Carver and the coaches at BMS for doing an extraordinary with athletics this year; Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Atkins, and Mrs. Hayes for being wonderful, supportive counselors at BMS; and Boushall's family liaison, who tirelessly works with our families.
- I'd like to shout-out Adrienne Lundell for her support with our website. Not only does she answer all the little questions, she took time out of her busy schedule to come in person to help me with some specific tasks. I am grateful for her patience and expertise! Thanks, Adrienne!
- Thank you to the AKA sorority for their shoe program in cooperation with JC Penney! I was able to help two scholars pick out shoes and they didn't have to pay anything! It was fun for the scholars to go shopping and I know their parents were grateful for this opportunity! We are so lucky to have such amazing community partners who work tirelessly to provide for our scholars' success in and out of the classroom!
- Shout-out to the Albert Hill Chorus and Linwood Holton for the videos in Friday's Direct! They were a joy to see and hear! Not everyone gets to experience the good that happens in our schools, but we have proof that what we do is inspired by love!
- Shout-out to the Huguenot HS administrative team (Mr. Gilstrap, Dr. Hines, Ms. Wyche, Dr. Massa, and Mr. Monroe) and the administrative support staff (Ms. Garland, Ms. Bonner, Ms. Moultry, Ms. Dalton, and Mr. Green) for a thoughtful Teacher Appreciation Week. It may seem like small gestures by many, but having a treat and expression of appreciation every day this week was very much appreciated! Thank you!!
- I would like to give big shout-out to Kirstie Hein Sadler, art teacher extraordinaire at Binford Middle. She worked tirelessly on the ARGS portfolios, the Binford play, and the Art and Beyond online auction. She not only supports her students in school, but also in their art endeavors outside of the classroom. She is such a positive light in my child’s day.
- Shout-out to Ashley Nollen and Nokomis Alston for all the work they do on the Westover Hills Elementary School monthly newsletter. It's full of interesting articles, and is great way to stay up to date on all the happenings at our school.
- Shout-out to Mr. James Smith at Southampton Elementary School. Mr. Smith is a great asset to our school and my classroom. He’s so flexible and always willing to help throughout the school. He’s literally the man of the hour. The young males in our school look up to him and love all things Mr. Smith. Thank you, Mr.Smith, for being the best instructional assistant.

Although Administrative Appreciation Day is gone, you are appreciated every day!
- Shout-out to Ms. Jennifer Frerichs for an outstanding K-5 spring musical at Fairfield Court. It was standing room only and the students, parents, and staff loved every minute of it. Students were reading paragraphs, reading music, and using social cues to give an amazing performance. It was great to feel the energy in the room with so much happening all around us.
