- I’d like to shout-out a few teachers from Chimborazo Elementary. Ms. Porter always greets the kids and talks to them before and after school, making them feel welcome. Mrs. Avula asks every student, whether in her class or not, about their day and always has a welcoming smile and attitude! My son’s teacher, Mrs. Russell, is a good teacher with excellent organizational skills and good communication – in and out of class – and is helping my son grow! Ms. Harrison may be the friendliest teacher in school. She's always so positive, and it shows in her class. The kids love her! Lastly, Principal Watkins, gets things done at the school, cares about the school and its success, and makes sure there is a good connection between staff and parents! I’ve seen more positivity among the staff this year than previous years!
- I would like to shout-out Ms. Joynes and Ms. Mankus, the wonderful teachers in the collaborative third grade classroom at Linwood Holton Elementary School. Their classroom is always positive and supportive, and my student loves to go to school each day – he actually runs from the carpool line to the school door!
- I would like to shout-out Mrs. Jennifer Romero and Mrs. Tikisha White for always stepping in to assist the AHS exceptional ed. department no matter what!
- Shout-out to Monica Fecht, Lt. Corbin, Lt. Hawkes, Lt. Nious, and Renesha Parks, and the bulldog family for their unwavering support this week at George Wythe. The collaborative efforts will never be forgotten. A special shout-out to Lead CSA Dixon for leading with love.
- Shout-out to Rachel Robinson, a teacher at Holton, who stepped in to help at the Mind Games tryouts when she saw the need for extra help. She was amazing!
- Shout-out to Erin Callahan at Broad Rock Elementary. She is an amazing school social worker and we’re blessed to have her. Thank you for helping our staff, students, and families. We appreciate your guidance and support. Our school is a better place because of you. Happy School Social Work Week!
- I want to send a huge shout-out to Dr. Probst from Blackwell Preschool. It was so nice to have a principal that made you feel heard, trusted you to do your job, and always put student and staff safety first. Having an administrator that encompassed all of those qualities was truly a treat. You will be missed immensely!
- I wanted to give a huge shout-out to the teachers at RVA. I want to personally thank Dr. Otey, Mr. Baber, Ms. Woolridge, and Ms. Winning for being the best support to my children! They make my children feel safe to soar and accomplish anything they have set on their agenda – not to mention the amount of love they give to all of the RVA children. Keep up the great work, RVA Owls!
- Shout-out to our super school social worker, Rebecca Wood! She is a shining star at Barack Obama Elementary School. Mrs. Wood gets the job done in a personable, professional, and prompt manner. We can always count on her to bring the thunder, the details, and the fun! Happy School Social Worker Week!
- Shout-out to Ms. Leona Barnes, Spanish teacher at Henderson Middle School. Ms. Barnes has been a kind, steadfast presence in our kid's life for two years. We are thankful for the ways she sees and knows our son. ¡Gracias, Señora Barnes! Shout-out to Mr. Darren Blackwell, digital applications teacher at Henderson Middle School. Mr. Blackwell shows a real interest in his students and wants to understand what makes them tick. I appreciate the ways he continues to challenge our son. Thank you, Mr. Blackwell!
- I would like to give a tremendous shout-out to transportation supervisors Terrence Squire, R. Gavin Mosher, Constance Samuels, Anita Love, Nikki Vines-Ross, and all of the bus drivers for the safe and efficient transport of almost a thousand students and staff to and from the Dominion Energy Center. Thank you for your professionalism, dedication, and teamwork!
- I would like to give a huge shout-out to Chanda Hannah, school social worker at Henderson Middle School, for obtaining her LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) credentials! Through hard work and dedication, Chanda has achieved her licensure as a clinical social worker during School Social Work Week. She will undoubtedly utilize her LCSW/mental health skills for the benefit of her Henderson students. We are so proud of you, Chanda!
- Thank you to Bridget Davis and Camille Johnson for coordinating the custodial staff professional development session today. Thank you to Mr. Jerrod Randall and Mrs. Regina Ellis for providing an insightful, informative professional development session for the custodial staff members.
- Thank you to the faculty and staff at River City for hosting the professional development for the custodial department. Special thanks to their counseling department and Principal Jackie Murphy-Braxton.
- I would like to shout-out Sheila Cotman at Cardinal Elementary School. Mrs. Cotman is making a difference in the lives of our students. Thank you, Mrs. Cotman, for all you do to make our students successful in mathematics!
