BISD
MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Sakai Families,

I hope you had a nice long weekend!

While it’s a healthy practice to express gratitude all year, November is the month that we take a moment to reflect on things we are fortunate for and appreciate people in our lives. As I’ve mentioned before, one way we work toward our District Improvement Plan goal of “Health, Well-Being and Safety” is through the CharacterStrong curriculum we are piloting. On Friday, as part of the CharacterStrong 30 Days of Kindness we are doing, students will be challenged to choose someone they are grateful for and give them a call. Tonight you might ask your child who they will like to choose on Friday and offer to help them complete that challenge. The Family Dare for this week is to take a moment at dinner and discuss all the things you are grateful for as a family.

This article will not be shared with students but is an excellent quick read for parents on the importance of gratitude for children’s health.

I am immensely grateful for our Bainbridge Island community and for being able to work with the students, families, and staff at Sakai. Families, thank you so much for your partnership and for sharing your children with us.
Have a wonderful week, Sakai!
