Dear Blakely Families,
Happy Monday and hope you enjoyed your weekend. So much continues to happen at a rapid pace, but this is a very big week. Wednesday is the first day of Continuous Learning and hopefully with each day we get closer to coming back in person. Until that wonderful day happens we will continue to strive for excellence and support families in the Blakely way. Compassion and gratitude are two words that we continue to focus on as we are navigating through these unknown times. I truly believe that any problem can be solved if we work together, communicate and treat each other with compassion and gratitude. Thank you in advance for your support!
A few key updates for you this week and beyond:
Beep and Go: We typically have a Meet and Greet the day before school each year in order for students to see their classroom, meet their teacher and bring in necessary supplies. This year, we are putting a new, COVID safe spin on this and calling it a Beep and Go! Our Beep and Go will be a drive through format, where students will be able to meet their teacher from the safety of their car, and will receive necessary materials and supplies to get the school year up and running!

Kindergarten Start Date: The official start date for our Kindergarten students is Tuesday, September 8th. Washington State mandates that we transition Kindergarten students into their first formal year of school by holding a WaKIDS (Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills) conference. Typically, students and families come to our school building in person, which allows the teacher, student and family to make connections and begin building their school and family partnership. In addition, teachers typically use this time to get to know a bit more about each child; their individual skills and strengths so that they can best meet individual student needs. The overall intent of these conferences remains the same, but this year they will be held via Zoom. Kindergarten teachers will schedule a conference time with each family on either September 2nd, 3rd or 4th.
School Website: We are providing regular updates, videos and information to our website on a daily basis, please utilize this resource to help you navigate the first few days of school. Once you receive your child’s frogrock account information on Tuesday at Beep and Go we will have a Blakely hotline to assist with questions or difficulties you may be having when logging in. CHECK THE WEBSITE!!!
Parent Nights: We will still be holding Parent Nights, but in a Zoom format. This is an important tradition that allows parents to learn about the curriculum and ask questions. Please plan to attend.
2nd/3rd will be from 5:15-6:15 on Wednesday, September 16th
K/1/4 and the ¾ Online will be from 5:15-6:15 on Thursday, September 17th
Never has a strong community and school culture been more important than right now. We can do this together and we can do it well. I believe in our staff, students and families. We will look back on this year and be so thankful it is over, but proud of the way in which we stuck together and put our students above all else.
Proud to be a Blakely Bulldog!!!!
