To our FIT4MOM Philadelphia Family,
Goodbyes are never easy, and this one is especially difficult, but after much thought and consideration, the two of us have decided to sell the Philly franchise. Neither one of us had anticipated moving out to the suburbs for several more years, but life circumstances have recently intervened, and because we want to do what is best for our families, we both need to leave the city life behind.
We took over ownership of this business a little more than two years ago, and to say that our lives have changed would be a huge understatement. We met as members in the Winter of 2015 and fell in love with everything the program stood for, and when the opportunity to become owners and instructors presented itself, there was no way we could turn it down. As first-time moms to toddler boys, we had both experienced the highs and lows of new motherhood – the profound fatigue and isolation, the overwhelming pride and joy – and we were determined to continue building a community in which moms of every age, every stage of motherhood, and every fitness level could come together to support, motivate, and inspire one another.
Throughout the past two years, this program has seen many changes, both positive and bittersweet. Our membership base has exploded, though we’ve had to bid farewell to many moms who have relocated with their families. We’ve added an amazing lineup of talented and motivating instructors while saying goodbye to longstanding, beloved members of our team. We’ve added CrossFit Supercharged and NEST Center City as hosts of our indoor classes, and we’ve expanded our offerings to include the incredibly successful Body Back program. In spite of all these changes, we’re beyond proud that the mission and values of our community have remained exactly the same. This is a safe, nonjudgmental place where you can come exactly as you are – bleary-eyed, sleep deprived, hanging by a thread – and trust that the mom running next to you on the trail, cursing alongside you through yet another round of burpees, and rolling out of bed to join you for a 5:30am workout understands exactly what you’re going through.
We have always said that FIT4MOM is so much more than a moms’ fitness group – the bonds, the friendships, and the strength in numbers are what truly define us, and for this, we thank each and every one of you from the bottom of our hearts. You have made this program what it is. Without your love, enthusiasm, and loyalty, we could never have grown the business and reached as many Philly moms as we have throughout the past two years.
We are very excited to announce that, effective October 1st, Alissa Higgins will be taking over ownership of FIT4MOM Philadelphia. Alissa first joined us in Winter 2016 shortly after her son, Jaden, was born. Her passion for fitness, health, and helping others was clear, and we were thrilled to add her to our instructor team. Alissa has made an enormous impact on our community with her knowledge, expertise, and commitment, and we couldn’t be more proud to pass on ownership of the franchise to her. She has some great ideas in store for the business, and we know that you and your kiddos will be in the very best of hands. (See more from Alissa below.)
In closing, we want to thank you again for inviting us into your lives. We have loved every moment with you and your families. We both took a huge leap into the unknown when we decided to take on ownership two years ago, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have been on this journey with all of you. Though we began this letter discussing “goodbyes,” please know that we think of this more as a “see you later” note, as we plan to stay involved with FIT4MOM Philly as much as we can, and you’ll definitely be seeing us here and there at classes, play dates, and Mom’s Nights Out.
Here’s to the very bright future of FIT4MOM Philadelphia.
In stride, and with gratitude,
Christine & Lauren
