Bike Month is the Perfect Time
There might not be a better time to talk about the need for safer steets. Sharing personal experiences and basic necessities is effective.
For me, what resonates is that “I’m a father that wants a way for my kids to walk or bike to school” rather than identifying as “an avid cyclist" or "regular bike commuter."
For you, maybe the unmet need is "a quiet street to raise a family", "a sheltered bus stop with a bench close to home", or "protected network of bike lanes to safely ride a bike to work."
We created this short guide to help keep such things in mind when sharing why safe streets are important.

Your Online Bike Month Passport

Bike Month celebrates the weekend trail riders, daily commuters, distance rollers, and lovers of all things bikes here in Central Iowa. Bike Month 2017 plans to be the biggest yet with great new sponsors, classic bike month events and rides, and new events for the whole family.

Women Rolling Collectively

These programs are designed to get more women comfortable bicycling around Des Moines.
Every first and third Wednesday of the month, from 5 to 7pm, at our East Village shop, we host an activity that is specifically designed for women of all skill levels. This week (May 3rd) focuses on the basics of bike-buying.
    Bikes + Free Transit
8,214 people combined a bike with a bus ride last May. Let’s crush that this year! Ride free on DART this entire month when boarding with your bike. Never done it before? No problem. Here's a 40 second video that shows you how to secure your bike on a bus.
