Former Circuit Court Judge William Acree Named Senior Judge
The Tennessee Supreme Court selected former Judge William Acree as the state’s Senior Judge on Oct. 2, 2015. Acree replaces retired Senior Judge Jon Kerry Blackwood. Acree will serve a two-year term and preside over cases across Tennessee. He previously served as the president of the Tennessee Judicial Conference for one year and served on the 27th Judicial District Circuit Court from 1994 to 2014.
Judge Jerry Smith Joins Belmont College of Law Faculty
Former Court of Criminal Appeals Judge Jerry Smith will teach appellate practice at the Belmont University College of Law starting in October 2016. Smith, who retired from the bench in 2014, has instructed at the Nashville School of Law, where he will continue to teach as well, since 2002.
Attorney Jean Crowe’s Legacy in Helping Domestic Violence Victims Carries On
Long-time attorney with the Legal Aid Society of Middle Tennessee, Jean Crowe – who passed away in the summer of 2015 – played an essential role in creating the Nashville Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The Tennessean featured Jean’s story as a part of October’s National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, calling her the “mother of Nashville’s domestic violence movement.”
Three Tennessee Law Schools Ranked in Princeton Review
Vanderbilt University Law School, The University of Tennessee College of Law and The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law were included in “The Best 173 Law Schools: 2016 Edition” by The Princeton Review. 
Baker Donelson Included in Fortune's 100 Best Workplaces for Women
Baker Donelson has been named one of Fortune’s 100 Best Workplaces for Women. It is one of only two law firms on the list and is ranked number 66.
Tennessee Supreme Court Recognizes Pro Bono Attorneys
On Oct. 28, 2015, members of the Tennessee Supreme Court and the Access to Justice Commission honored the pro bono work of more than 40 attorneys, law students and law firms in a ceremony at Belmont College of Law. Justices Connie Clark and Jeffrey Bivins presented certificates to honorees. 
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings Named to 10 Most Charitable Law Firms List
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings was recognized by Law360 as one of the country’s 10 Most Charitable Law Firms, making donations of more than $1.15 million in 2014.
