a beacon for literary types
7.2.15
Dear Writer:
One hundred and fifty years ago on July 4th, Lewis Carroll published Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. And where would we be without the Cheshire Cat's iconic grin, the Mad Hatter's unbirthday wishes? Could America even exist? Doubtful.
The July Session

Come explore literary nonsense (if such a thing exists!) with us this July — classes start next week. Delve into the heart of madness in King Lear with John Cotter, wander down the rabbit hole in Nontraditional Forms with Richard Froude, and put your tongue-twisting to the test in Screenwriting 101 with Jenny Taylor-Whitehorn. View the complete schedule of classes here

Grand Lake

We all need hands-on inspiration to conjure up our own fictional wonderlands. Excellent writing instructors help. And marmots. Join Andrea Dupree, Jennifer Itell, Chris Ransick, Karen Palmer, Michael Henry, and Erika Krouse for a weeklong journey into nature and the source of stories at our annual Grand Lake writing retreat from July 12th to 17th. We have just a few spots left.
Youth Summer Camps

Lewis Carroll knew how to have fun with words, and so do we! Our Young Writers Program Summer Camp fosters creativity, self-expression, and excitement about writing. Our 3rd and 4th grade summer camp, from July 20th to 24th, is open for enrollment.
