Call has been directly involved in Country radio as an on-air personality, PD or MM for 44 years, the last 41 of which have been with KYGO, where he started as the station’s first-ever PD. After signing KYGO on in 1980, he was elevated to OM in 1987 and began serving as GM/MM two years later. In addition to establishing KYGO as a highly respected Country radio brand and leading the station to revenue and rating success, Call is responsible for establishing successful careers for generations of artists and exposing listeners to their music. KYGO has earned numerous industry honors during Call’s tenure, including CMA and Marconi Station of the Year trophies and individual awards for the PDs and personalities.
Curtis’ 41-year industry career includes 30 years in major market radio serving as an on-air talent, MD, PD and OM for KNIX/Phoenix, KCYY/San Antonio, KZLA/Los Angeles and nationally syndicated After MidNite. He later spent 13 years providing insight, analysis and commentary on the industry during stops at Radio & Records, Billboard, Country Aircheck and All Access Nashville. Touching all bases, Curtis also served as Arista Dir./Regional Promotion. Following a 20-year run on the CRB Board and serving as the organization’s President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer, Curtis transitioned to his current role as Exec. Dir. in 2018. He has served on the Board of Directors for both the ACM and CMA and has been a member of the St. Jude Children’s Hospital Radio Advisory Board since 2015.
Hagy was already an established, successful PD when he was named Bristol Broadcasting Head/Programming in 1984 and took oversight of Country WXBQ/Johnson City, TN. Under his management, WXBQ led ratings and revenue – with shares consistently reaching north of 20 – for decades, often making it the highest-rated radio station in America. During his career, Hagy was instrumental in launching the careers of Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Montgomery Gentry while maintaining WXBQ’s dominance and influence in the promotion of live and local music in the Tri-Cities area. Since his retirement in 2015, Hagy has continued to serve as a programming consultant for Bristol Broadcasting.
Schrutt joined Capital Cities in 1963 as WKBW/Buffalo Account Executive before being named LSM. By 1974, Schrutt had been elevated to GSM and took the VP/GM role three years later. In 1980, Capital Cities sent Schrutt to manage the company’s two Los Angeles-based radio stations – including KZLA, which he flipped from AC to Country to become the first FM Country station in the market – and the following year, he was transferred to Atlanta where he eventually managed both WKHX-AM/FM & WYAY. Schrutt also oversaw KSCS/Dallas, where he hired Country Radio Hall of Famer Terry Dorsey for mornings. He was named Pres./Owned Radio Stations in 1987 supervising stations in Chicago, Washington, Dallas, Atlanta and Minneapolis as a result of restructuring following the acquisition of the American Broadcasting Companies by Capital Cities, Inc., and he retired from radio in 1996. The following year, Schrutt became a radio talent agent. He served on boards for the CMA, Georgia Association of Broadcasters, Atlanta Radio Association and the All Radio Negotiating Committee, and he was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame of Western New York in 2006. Schrutt passed away in August of 2020 at the age of 87.
Froglear has been with KFRG/Riverside since 1993 where she currently serves as APD/MD/West Coast afternoon talent. She began her career with the station serving double duty as Dir./Promotions & midday personality before segueing to morning co-host. In 2017, Froglear moved again, this time back to middays, while picking up programming responsibilities. She has received numerous Best Radio Personality honors in the market while staying active in her community and serving on the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital Board of Directors. Froglear has also served on the CRS Agenda Committee four times and is an architect of the event’s Women’s Mentoring Breakfast.
Jackson has served as PD/afternoon personality at KIIM/Tucson since 2001, where he has enjoyed consistent ratings dominance and garnered national industry recognition. Among his honors, Jackson holds ACM (2009, 2021) and CMA Personality of the Year (2014) awards, in addition to CRS/Country Aircheck Awards for both PD and Air Personality of the Year. Jackson also currently hosts a nationally syndicated show for three-dozen Westwood One Mainstream Country affiliates. Prior to his start in Tucson, Jackson enjoyed programming and on-air success at WCFB/Orlando and WROO/Jacksonville.
Pickett, a 2015 inductee to the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, has been a programming and on-air fixture in Austin since 1981 when he first arrived at KOKE. In 1984, Pickett moved to crosstown KVET and transitioned to Country sister KASE in 1988. While there, he led the station to four CMA Station of the Year wins. Pickett returned to KVET in 2011 and has handled PD and MD roles for both stations since. He has earned multiple CRS/Country Aircheck Awards for Large Market PD, and currently hosts the Tales Of The Broken Spoke podcast. Prior to making the move to Austin, Pickett launched his radio career at KXOX/Sweetwater, TX in 1977.
Ward has served as APD/midday host at WUBL/Atlanta since 2013, when she arrived following 19 years with Country sister WTQR/Greensboro, NC. At ‘TQR, Ward served as morning co-host and APD/midday personality. Her previous stops include WNEU/High Point, NC; WSTH/Columbus, GA; and WMXA/Auburn, AL. In addition to her day-to-day role with WUBL, Ward also voicetracks shows for 10 iHeartCountry sister stations, including WKKT/Charlotte, KVET/Austin, WFUS/Tampa and WESC/Greenville, SC. She is the recipient of multiple industry awards for both programming and on-air work, including the 2000 CMA Large Market Personality of the Year. Ward has given her time to numerous local and national charities, and has been recognized for her volunteer work with Susan G. Komen Foundation and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.
