Dear Community,
Pride Month is a time of visibility, resistance, celebration, and truth-telling. At Adolescent Counseling Services (ACS), we don’t just mark this month - we live our values every day by showing up for LGBTQIA+ youth and families with care that is affirming, inclusive, and rooted in justice.
Through our Outlet program and across all ACS services, we continue to witness the beauty and brilliance of queer and trans youth. And we also witness their pain. The reality is that young people are growing up in a country where anti-LGBTQIA+ rhetoric and policies are not just political - they are personal. These attacks on identity, safety, and bodily autonomy are impacting mental health at alarming rates.
Even in the Bay Area, many of our LGBTQIA+ youth still face rejection at home, invisibility at school, and isolation in their communities. Pride Month doesn’t erase that. But it does give us the opportunity to recommit to what matters: building a world where LGBTQIA+ young people don’t have to fight to exist.
At ACS and the Outlet program, our role is clear. We are here to hold space, to push back, and to affirm the inherent worth of every young person who walks through our doors. Our therapists, advocates, and staff are trained not just in clinical skill - but in cultural humility, allyship, and the importance of honoring each youth’s full identity. Our goal isn’t just to support youth in crisis, but to build systems of care that reflect their power and possibility.
Throughout Pride Month, we'll be participating in several events, initiatives, and celebrations that uplift the LGBTQIA+ community and strengthen our commitment to equity and healing. Please keep an eye out and see below for what’s ahead:
