Report Back: Shut Down Stewart Action!
On Friday, November 21st, DWN staff traveled to Columbus, Georgia to take part in the SOA Watch Conference and 8th annual vigil to shut down the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia. Organized by the ACLU of Georgia, Georgia Detention Watch, Alterna, SOA Watch, Detention Watch Network and others, this year's vigil was the largest ever to call for the closure of Stewart, which was named one of the worst detention facilities in the U.S. by DWN in 2012.
