The new Tennessee State Museum, here we come!
EOA Architects is excited to be working on the new Tennessee State Museum, which will be located on the Bicentennial Mall in Nashville, Tennessee! Teamed with museum specialist HGA, an architecture and engineering firm based in Minnesota, EOA believes this project represents an extraordinary opportunity for the State of Tennessee to create an inspirational and distinctive state-of-the-art cultural facility. The new 130,000 square foot museum will illuminate the rich and diverse history of the citizens of Tennessee and enliven Nashville’s Bicentennial Mall, making it a destination for generations to come.
The mission of the new $160 million facility, spearheaded by Governor Bill Haslam, is to procure, preserve, exhibit, and interpret objects which relate to the social, political, economic, and cultural history of Tennessee and Tennesseans, and to provide exhibitions and programs for the educational and cultural enrichment of the citizens of the state.
The Tennessee State Museum is inviting Tennesseans to participate in the #my_Tennessee campaign by posting photos and images from across the state that best represent Tennessee such as historic places, landscapes, local landmarks, etc. Tennesseans are asked to post their images on Instagram, Twitter and the Tennessee State Museum’s Facebook page with the #my_Tennessee. The campaign will run through January 31, 2016. The images posted will be used as part of the planning process in designing and building a new state museum, which is scheduled to break ground in spring 2016.
