Dear Purdue Bands & Orchestras Family,
It is with a heavy heart that I share some news with you. Today, Dr. Al G. Wright passed away at his home in West Lafayette at the age of 104. Dr. Wright served as Director for Purdue Bands & Orchestras from 1954 to 1981. Following his storied career at Purdue University, he remained one of of the biggest supporters of Purdue Bands & Orchestras along with his wife, Gladys. Nearly half of our department’s long history is marked by his relentless leadership and their generosity.
Please keep Gladys and the entire Wright family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of our Director of Bands Emeritus, Dr. Al G. Wright.
