Generating Impact: Prep Beyond 50
Our 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign, Generating Impact, is making a phenomenal difference in our community. We have raised $12,000,000 of the $14,000,000 we committed to and have embraced the challenge to change, significantly, the access for bright and motivated students to the excellent education we provide. Our commitment to this campaign also includes providing our current students and their families with critical campus and athletic improvements: Sun Mountain Field and Classroom Renovations. We expect to start the Middle School Renovations this summer, and now is a great time to give to this important initiative. More information about our renovation plans will come soon.
If you have not given already, we hope you will be inspired to join us in our commitment to an earth-shaking, life-changing campaign. We’ve had a fantastic response to the campaign so far, and we hope that everyone in the Prep community–graduates, faculty, past parents, friends, and current parents–will participate as they are able and will see the value in doing so. Thank you for being a part of this change. Please click here to learn more and to make a donation today.

The Girls Lacrosse Team traveled to Colorado this past weekend. They played perennial power- house Pueblo West and proved their skill as a club by posting a 15-19 point loss. They also played Air Academy JV and beat them soundly 12-1. The Boys Lacrosse Team played a conference match against Los Alamos last Thursday and won handily.
Track & Field hosted the Cholla Challenge at Santa Fe High School last week. It turned out to be a very well attended meet with close to 20 schools, some from out of state. The Boys team went into the final event of the meet trailing Las Vegas Robertson and ended up rallying for a triumphant win. The Girls pulled out an extremely exciting win, topping the second and third-placed teams by a mere half point and one point respectively.
Tennis competed in the Los Alamos/Espanola Invite this weekend and had a very good showing for this early in the season. Two notable individual highlights were Harsh Bhundiya '16 finishing 4th and Anna Bennett '16 winning the consolation bracket.
The Baseball Team went to the Lion Classic in Santa Rosa over the weekend. Although they lost all three matches, the team had a great experience and were very competitive. They lost to the host team in the first round, and their following two matches were against strong schools from West Las Vegas and Tucumcari. The team showed very well, losing by a combined three runs in the final two games.

| Substance Abuse: Keeping The Conversation Going
As spring approaches, moods elevate. There are graduations to celebrate, new drivers' licenses to take advantage of, and the longer hours of daylight remind us that summer is just around the corner. This season of small and grand celebrations alike tempts some teens with difficult choices around how to celebrate responsibly.
The good news is that overall substance use across the nation has been declining in recent years. In the 2014 study done by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, called Monitoring our Future, more than half our nation’s high school seniors report they have yet to try marijuana.
Unfortunately, teens still receive a lot of confusing messages. Myths such as it is less dangerous to drive stoned than drunk are gaining momentum. In the same study, teenagers' attitudes toward marijuana show a greater tolerance toward use and a reduction in the perception of its harmful aspects. And Colorado, where “recreational” use is legal, has one of highest reports of teen use. For these reasons adults need to continue to talk with teens about the health and safety issues of substance use. Here at school we have a targeted curriculum for our 8th and 10th graders and stimulate universal discussions through specific prevention initiatives like peer-led substance awareness weeks. You can help by talking to your teen at home.
