The purpose of the Orange County Business Investment Grant Program is to stimulate successful non-farm Business Investment development and expansion in Orange County. Priority is given to ventures demonstrating a clear need for grant funds to grow their business, hire additional staff, grow the commercial tax base, and/or create a significant social and economic impact in the county.

Property owners should have received their 2023 listing forms by mail in early January. If you do not receive a Property Tax Listing form and need to list, contact us at 919-245-2100, email tax@orangecountync.gov or print a blank listing form on our website. All taxable personal property and certain real property* must be listed for county property tax purposes each January. The deadline to submit your 2023 listing form is Tuesday, January 31, 2024. Forms submitted by mail must be received in our office or postmarked by the US Postal Service by January 31, 2024.
*Changes in real property (new construction, additions, renovations, or demolition) that have occurred since January 1, 2022. You are required by North Carolina law to report these changes even if a building permit was obtained for the work.

The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students youth and adults in obtaining a degree at any North Carolina university or college, in any field of study, with priority given to Family and Consumer Sciences, and related fields.

Join our panel discussion as we explore different practices and gain a greater understanding of different cultural journeys of death and dying.

Despite significant staffing challenges in 2023, our Public Safety Communications Team remained steadfast in their dedication. With a focus on exceeding expectations, our telecommunicators answered 95% of the more than 87,000 9-1-1 calls within 10 seconds.

Help Needed for Pop-Up Shelters |
When temperatures are dangerously cold pop-up shelters are activated. Consider donating supplies or your time to help make shelters ready to receive community members. You may drop off items Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm at the Southern Human Services Center at 2501 Homestead Road, Chapel Hill.

Since 2000, the SECU Family House in Chapel Hill has provided a nurturing, safe, and affordable place for patients and their loved ones who travel great distances to receive life-saving procedures and treatments for serious illnesses at UNC Hospitals. The Orange County Cooperative Extension is collecting household items for those families to use since the need is great. Bring your items to the Extension office (Bonnie B.
