Dear UM Community,
We share your concern for the people of Ukraine and the uncertainty that they face. We have reached out to the Ukrainian students and faculty on our campus and know that others have as well.
Over the past week, many have asked the people in our office how they can help Ukraine. Please see the list below of organizations supporting humanitarian efforts in Ukraine.
In the coming months, we expect an influx of displaced and refugee students and scholars to the United States. This is often coordinated by national organizations. We are in touch with those organizations. As we did with displaced Afghan students, the Office of Global Engagement stands ready to assist students and scholars in their efforts to get placed within our community or others.
The conflict in Ukraine is chilling, frightening, and deserving of our compassion and attention. It also reminds us that our campus community has individuals from other countries also affected by violence, civil war, civil unrest, and acts of aggression every day. I encourage you to keep informed and bring inquisitiveness and compassion into your daily interactions.
Please feel free to share this message with others who may be interested. And, while our affected community members have been contacted many times with messages of support, please reach out to the Office of Global Engagement with any additional messages or concerns.
Sincerely,
Blair McElroy
Senior International Officer
