OUR 17TH PRESIDENT

The UNT System Board of Regents unanimously named Dr. Harrison Keller as UNT's 17th president, effective Aug. 1. He is currently the commissioner and chief executive officer of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

"Having spent his career committed to elevating Texas higher education, Harrison Keller is a natural leader and innovator who is uniquely qualified to lead UNT through new levels of excellence," Chancellor Michael R. Williams says.

FOURTH OF JULY

Happy Fourth of July, Eagles! Celebrate Independence Day by checking out some of these events happening in the North Texas region.

The July Jubilee and Drone Show begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, at Denton Civic Center and Quakertown Park.
Carrollton Community Fireworks Display begins at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, over Josey Ranch Lake.
Flower Mound’s Independence Fest begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 4, at Bakersfield Park.
Frisco Fireworks Extravaganza begins at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, July 4, around Frisco City Hall and Toyota Stadium.

The university will be closed for the holiday and classes will not be held on July 4.

SYCAMORE LIBRARY IS OPEN!

Sycamore Hall Library renovations are finally complete after months of work. The library is now open Monday through Friday. For hours and a floor directory, visit its website.

SMATRESK ERA T-SHIRTS

It’s the end of an era! Students can now pre-order the Smatresk Era T-shirt that first appeared at the president’s farewell reception for faculty and staff in May, where they were a big hit.

Pre-order your shirts by 8 a.m. July 12 — $12 for sizes S-XL and $14 for 2XL-5XL, plus tax. Pick up your shirts starting July 23 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Eagle Images, located at the University Services Building just inside the north entrance. Order today, and you'll never go out of style!
