Spring Online Registration Begins February 3
The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department announces its spring program opportunities for 2023-2024.
A diverse selection highlighting the arts, environmental science, recreation, sports, and holiday events are planned for adults and children.
Online program registration for Athens-Clarke County residents will open at 9 AM on Saturday, February 3. Non-residents may register online starting Monday, February 5 at noon. Before registering, individuals who have not already done so must establish a free online account at www.accgov.com/myrec. Payment may be rendered using an American Express, debit card, Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or a MasterCard or Visa gift card.
Registration will continue until programs are at full enrollment or they begin.
New scholarship applicants and individuals with expired scholarships must visit a Leisure Services Department facility office to apply for a scholarship or to renew an expired one at least five business days prior to registering for a program. Scholarships may not be applied for online. Information regarding scholarship program changes, including required documentation, is available at www.accgov.com/scholarship.
Individuals who do not have access to a computer or smart phone may register online using the computer labs at Heard Park at 400 McKinley Dr., Lay Park at 297 Hoyt St., or Rocksprings Park at 291 Henderson Ext. during regular hours of operation.

"Family Saturdays" at Lyndon House Arts Center
The Lyndon House Arts Center hosts Family Saturdays: Art Workshops through the spring of 2024.
Family Saturdays: Art Workshops provide the opportunity to explore the practice of artists who are exhibiting their art in the galleries at the Lyndon House Arts Center. Coinciding with a variety of contemporary art exhibitions, these drop-in workshops include projects that are inspired by the current shows and are designed for children and adults to participate in together. Come join the Lyndon House Arts Center for family-oriented art workshops and stay to explore the artwork that inspired the projects!
2024 dates include Saturdays February 17, March 9 and March 30 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
Family Saturdays: Art Workshops are free and available for casual drop in, however, online registration is recommended.

Do You Have Your Tickets?
The East Athens Educational Dance Center presents its annual production of “Dancing Through Light” at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 and 3:00 pm Sunday, February 25. This annual performance is a family tradition and a favorite performance in the Athens community. This performance will pay a special tribute to the legacy of Lois Thomas Ewings, the late founding Facility Supervisor of EAEDC.
“Dancing Through Light" is a showcase of dance highlighting the gifted students enrolled in East Athens Educational Dance Center’s Accelerated Programs. Featuring ballet, modern, tap, African and contemporary dance; dancers will perform choreography that will inspire and uplift. The performance will include students from age 7 to young adults and professionals performing at a high level of expertise.
Public performances are scheduled for Saturday, February 24 at 7pm and Sunday February 25 at 3 pm. All performances take place at the Morton Theatre 195 W. Washington Street, Athens GA 30601. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 the day of the show (pending availability). Group tickets are available. Tickets go on sale to the public on February 2nd, 2024 and are available to purchase at www.mortontheatre.com.

Guitar Club
Let's pick-up the guitar and start with the basics! This club is centered around learning the fundamentals of guitar and meeting others interested in playing as well.
"Youth Guitar Club" and "Teen Guitar Club" take place Mondays, February 5 - March 25 at Lay Park. "Youth Guitar Club" is set fro 5:30 - 6:20 p.m. with "Teen Guitar Club" following from 6:30 - 7:20 p.m.The fee is $10 ACC residents and $15 for non-residents. Online registration is underway. Space is limited.

Leisure Services is now hiring more than 100 summer positions. Applications are currently being accepted for camp counselors, counselors in training, Grand Slam, lifeguards, and pool clerks.
