Ignite the SPARK for Research and Collaboration! |
SPARK (Sharing Projects and Research Knowledge) Collaborative is an engaging event designed to break down barriers in grant writing, inspire interdisciplinary collaboration, and spark new ideas to secure research funding.
ORSP is hosting the first annual SPARK on March 27. Attendees will gain practical strategies for approaching grant writing, and hear from faculty who have successfully navigated the grant process with interdisicplinary teams.

🔹 Cayuse IRB Quick Start Guide – A step-by-step resource based on user feedback to help navigate key system functions.
🔹 Cayuse IRB Training Environment – A practice space for faculty and students to explore the system without affecting real submissions. Access it here with SHSU SSO credentials.

AmeriCorps, NASA, and the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) are seeking faculty experts to serve as grant reviewers.
Serving as a review panelist is a great opportunity to:

âś… Expand professional networks
AmeriCorps & NIFA – Looking for faculty with expertise in areas like disaster services, education, environmental stewardship, economic opportunity, capacity building, and agriculture.
NASA – Looking for subject matter experts (SMEs) to participate in virtual panel discussions or provide external reviews for various programs. Postdocs and upper-level graduate students are also welcome! If your expertise aligns, NASA will reach out for potential assignments.

Dr. Tabbetha Lopez (Department of Human Sciences) submitted a $25k proposal to the Health Information Outreach Award Program at the Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM).

Christopher Truong (College of Osteopathic Medicine) submitted a $15k proposal to the JAMP Special Projects Request at the Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP).

Assessment Mini-Grants - Now Accepting Submissions |
The Office of Assessment is now accepting applications for its Assessment Mini-Grant Program for the 2025-2026 academic year.
These competitive grants provide funding to faculty and staff at SHSU to support assessment-related activities, including new or ongoing assessment practices within programs, offices, or departments; and travel funding to present assessment-related research at professional conferences.
📌 Award Amount: Up to $1,000 per recipient
📌 Application Deadline: May 23, 2025
