The Tallahassee-Leon County Intergovernmental Agency (IA) Board unanimously approved a $375,000 funding request for Neighborhood Medical Center’s new on-site pharmacy, a project designed to expand healthcare access in an underserved area while creating new workforce opportunities. In addition to improving patient access to prescriptions and healthcare services, the project is projected to generate nearly $3.9 million in economic output, support 11 jobs, and create approximately $1.5 million in wages and income.

The pharmacy is expected to open in late summer and will strengthen care coordination by bringing pharmacy and clinical services together under one roof.
Jeanne’ S. Freeman, Chief Executive Officer of Neighborhood Medical Center said:
"We are deeply grateful for this investment in the health and well-being of our community. This funding represents more than the addition of a pharmacy—it is an opportunity to remove barriers to care and ensure that patients have timely, affordable access to the medications they need to live healthier lives.
As a Federally Qualified Health Center, our mission is to serve everyone, regardless of their circumstances. The addition of another community pharmacy will strengthen access for patients from all walks of life, while helping us better reach those who have historically been underserved, underrepresented, and disproportionately impacted by healthcare disparities. By expanding pharmacy services, we are creating a more connected, patient-centered system of care that improves health outcomes and supports the dignity and well-being of every individual we serve.
We are honored by this award and look forward to continuing our work to build a healthier, more equitable community for all."
